This small kitchen packs a powerful punch. By replacing an oversized sliding glass door with a 24" cantilever which created additional floor space. We tucked a large Reid Shaw farm sink with a wall mounted faucet into this recess. A 7' peninsula was added for storage, work counter and informal dining. A large oversized window floods the kitchen with light. The color of the Eucalyptus painted and glazed cabinets is reflected in both the Najerine stone counter tops and the glass mosaic backsplash tile from Oceanside Glass Tile, "Devotion" series. All dishware is stored in drawers and the large to the counter cabinet houses glassware, mugs and serving platters. Tray storage is located above the refrigerator. Bottles and large spices are located to the left of the range in a pull out cabinet. Pots and pans are located in large drawers to the left of the dishwasher. Pantry storage was created in a large closet to the left of the peninsula for oversized items as well as the microwave. Additional pantry storage for food is located to the right of the refrigerator in an alcove. Cooking ventilation is provided by a pull out hood so as not to distract from the lines of the kitchen.

This European kitchen has several different areas and functions. Each area has its own specific details but are tied together with distinctive farmhouse feel, created by combining medium wood and white cabinetry, different styles of cabinetry, mixed metals, warm, earth toned tile floors, blue granite countertops and a subtle blue and white backsplash. The hand-hammered copper counter on the peninsula ties in with the hammered copper farmhouse sink. The blue azul granite countertops have a deep layer of texture and beautifully play off the blue and white Italian tile backsplash and accent wall. The high gloss black hood was custom-made and has chrome banding. The French Lacanche stove has soft gold controls. This kitchen also has radiant heat under its earth toned limestone floors. A special feature of this kitchen is the wood burning stove. Part of the original 1904 house, we repainted it and set it on a platform. We made the platform a cohesive part of the space defining wall by using a herringbone pattern trim, fluted porcelain tile and crown moulding with roping. The office area’s built in desk and cabinets provide a convenient work and storage space. Topping the room off is a coffered ceiling. In this classic English Tudor home located in Penn Valley, PA, we renovated the kitchen, mudroom, deck, patio, and the exterior walkways and driveway. The European kitchen features high end finishes and appliances, and heated floors for year-round comfort! The outdoor areas are spacious and inviting. The open trellis over the hot tub provides just the right amount of shelter. These clients were referred to us by their architect, and we had a great time working with them to mix classic European styles in with contemporary, current spaces. Our clients wanted to update their dark, dated kitchen, and enlarge the opening to the nook. We chose Sherwin Williams Diverse Beige SW6079 for the kitchen cabinets to provide warm, but brightness to the kitchen. Atlas Hardware Alaire pulls in black were chosen to add a pop of boldness to the cabinetry. Custom cabinetry features such as a coffee station, pull-up microwave storage unit to the right of the fridge with a custom drawer below, and a spacious butler baking pantry to create an additional work surface in the kitchen. Walls were painted Sherwin Williams Bauhaus Bluff SW 7552 to provide additional warmth to the kitchen without making it dark. For the countertops, we installed Silestone White Storm with a TileBar Manchester Elongated hex tile set horizontally to give a more modern feel to the space. Artisan sinks and Delta faucets were installed for the main sink and the baking station.

LIVELY TILE BACKSPLASH RISES UP THROUGH ASH WALL CABINET fitted with accent lighting and glass shelves as a focal point from the living room. GLASS AND STONE TILES make up the checkered stripes of the backsplash. SILESTONE CURB serves as a raceway for light switches and electrical outlets so as not to interrupt the pattern of the tile backsplash.
