This Lansing, MI kitchen remodel is a distinctive mission style design with Medallion Cabinetry flat panel kitchen cabinets in a warm wood finish. The design is accented by black matte Richelieu hardware and black GE appliances. A solid surface Corian countertop with a 1" coved backsplash beautifully finishes off the design, topped by a white subway tile backsplash.

Our Client wanted to change the layout of the lower ground floor living space. The original small window overlooking the garden has been replaced with a new anthracite aluminium patio door and sidelight. The wall between the kitchen and the hall and stairs has been opened up to allow more light into the space. Camarro Parquet flooring laid to a tramline finish helps lead you through to the walled garden. Kitchen units, glass splashbacks, walls, ceilings and wood work have all been finished in a subtle Muscle colour with oak worksurfaces, oak handrail and treads to the new staircase

We removed the kitchen’s existing countertops and plumbing fixtures to make room for a new divided sink, Grohe faucet, Corian countertops, and a porcelain tile backsplash. The flat-panel cabinetry includes plenty of storage, including a Pull-Down Shelf and Pull-Out Corner Storage. New under cabinet lighting was installed, along with two new electrical outlets and six can lights. After removing the existing window over the kitchen sink, we replaced it with a box bay window that lets in more natural light.

The 1938 kitchen - complete with Roper range original to the house - was refreshed with new white tile and recessed halogen lighting. The checkered vinyl tile floor replaces worn pink linoleum added in 1944, and all new drawers and door fronts mimic the originals. A utility room behind the door at the rear was converted in a laundry room and pantry.

What a difference taking down a wall can make. This kitchen was cramped and dysfunctional. We're talking no dishwasher! Eliminating the wall between kitchen and dining room allowed us to incorporate all the modern conveniences and space for two work areas. We were able to retain the original radiator and pay homage to the original mill work details of this charming 1938 home. Teakwood moved fixtures from the original kitchen to give this new space more room. The upgraded kitchen provides everything the client needs.
