Classic meets modern in this custom lake home. High vaulted ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows give the main living space a bright and open atmosphere. Rustic finishes and wood contrasts well with the more modern, neutral color palette.

Kowalske Kitchen & Bath remodeled this Delafield home in the Mulberry Grove neighborhood. The renovation included the kitchen, the fireplace tile and adding hardwood flooring to the entire first floor. Although the layout of the kitchen remained similar, we made smart changes to increase functionality. We removed the soffits to open the space and make room for taller cabinets to the ceiling. We reconfigured the appliances for extra prep space and added storage with rollouts and more drawers. The design is a classic, timeless look with white shaker cabinets, grey quartz counters and carrara marble subway tile backsplash. To give the space a trendy vibe, we used fun lighting, matte black fixtures and open shelving.

The homeowner's had been living with inefficient and worn-out cabinetry in their 1970's ranch. They had remodeled other spaces in their home and were now ready to take on their kitchen remodel themselves. We found cabinetry that was well made and within their budget and developed a plan for the stages of their remodel. Appliances, lighting and fixtures remained in their original location. The cabinetry was fitted with robust storage solutions to organize everything in a functional layout. The vinyl flooring was replaced with beautiful hardwood. They wanted Alair to create a traditional setting that showcased the antiques they had collected over the years, while still blending seamlessly with the modern touches required to live comfortably in today's world.

An elegant kitchen design featuring classic, shaker style doors in Dulux 'Grey Cabin' and benchtops in Caesarstone 'Turbine Grey'. The black Lancanche stove is the centrepiece of the kitchen and is complimented nicely by the black Gessi lever tap and Franke sink. A functional scullery/walk-in-pantry with 2nd sink, can be hidden away behind the sliding door when not in use. Rodwin Architecture & Skycastle Homes Location: Boulder, CO USA Our clients asked us to breathe new life into a dark and chopped up 1990’s home, that had a solid shell but a dysfunctional floor plan and dated finishes. We took down all the walls and created an open concept, sunny plan where all the public social spaces connected. We added a Dutch front door and created both a foyer and proper mud-room for the first time, so guests now had a sense of arrival and a place to hang their jackets. The odd dated kitchen that was the heart of the home was rebuilt from scratch with a simple white and blue palette. We opened up the south wall of the main floor with large windows and doors to help BBQ’s and parties flow from inside to the patio. The sagging and faded wrap-around porch was rebuilt from scratch. We re-arranged the interior spaces to create a dream kid’s playroom packed with organized storage and just far enough away from the grown-ups so that everyone can co-exist peacefully. We redid the finishes & fixtures throughout, and opened up the staircase to be an elegant path through this 4 storey house. Built by Skycastle Construction.

photos by Pedro Marti For this project the client hired us to renovate the top unit of this two family brownstone located in the historic district of Bedstuy in Brooklyn, NY. The upper apartment of the house is a three story home of which the lower two floors were fully renovated. The Clients wanted to keep the historic charm and original detail of the home as well as the general historic layout. The main layout change was to move the kitchen from the top floor to what was previously a living room at the rear of the first floor, creating an open dining/kitchen area. The kitchen consists of a large island with a farmhouse sink and a wall of paneled white and gray cabinetry. The rear window in the kitchen was enlarged and two large French doors were installed which lead out to a new elevated ipe deck with a stair that leads down to the garden. A powder room on the parlor floor from a previous renovation was reduced in size to give extra square footage to the dining room, its main feature is a colorful butterfly wallpaper. On the second floor The existing bedrooms were maintained but the center of the floor was gutted to create an additional bathroom in a previous walk-in closet. This new bathroom is a large ensuite masterbath featuring a multicolored glass mosaic tile detail adjacent to a more classic subway tile. To make up for the lost closet space where the masterbath was installed we chose to install new French swinging doors with historic bubble glass beneath an arched entry to an alcove in the master bedroom thus creating a large walk-in closet while maintaining the light in the room.

MMI Design was hired to assist our client with with an extensive kitchen, living room, and dining remodel. The original floor plan was overly compartmentalized and the kitchen may have been the tiniest kitchen on the planet! By taking out a wall which separated the spaces and stealing square footage from the under-utilized dining room, MMI was able to transform the space into a light, bright and open floor plan. The new kitchen has room for multiple cooks with all the bells and whistles of modern day kitchens, and the living spaces are large enough to entertain friends and family. We are especially proud of this project, as we believe it is not only beautiful but also transformative in terms of the new livability of the spaces.
