After living in their home for nearly 20 years, for their second renovation of this kitchen they decided to do it right--a small addition to the rear of the home and large windows allow views of the backyard and light to flow into this warm contemporary kitchen. Sarah Robertson of Studio Dearborn helped her client renovate their kitchen to capture the views and vibe they were after. Pale rift oak cabinetry is punctuated with grey/blue glass uppers, bringing color and reflective light into this welcoming space. Arto terra cotta floors, hand waxed, newly designed rustic open beam ceiling, plaster hood, white painted cabinetry, oak counters, and leathered ocean black granite island counter. Limestone backsplash. Light painted walls with dark wood flooring. Walls with thick plaster arches, simple and intricate tile designs, feel very natural and earthy in the warm Southern California sun. Plaster range hood and custom painted Malibu tile back splash. This kitchen received a completely different feel once the wall separating the dining room was removed opening the space up for an extended countertop with seating nook. This house got a complete facelift! All trim and doors were painted white, floors refinished in a new color, opening to the kitchen became larger to create a more cohesive floor plan. The dining room became a "dreamy" Butlers Pantry and the kitchen was completely re-configured to include a 48" range and paneled appliances. Notice that there are no switches or outlets in the backsplashes. Make sure to look at the before pictures!
