Warming up this kitchen and adding some much needed spice was the challenge presented. The basic configuration stayed the same to free up the budget for beautiful nutmeg stained cabinets and a new bench seating area. A unique slab of granite was found for the island. Every renovation has a story, and this one turned out to be a bit of a fairy tale. From toad to prince, this small award winning NYC kitchen is now a livable, usable dream kitchen. Full of fun design dilemmas, the biggest was how to transform this into an eat in kitchen while keeping lots of prep and cabinet space? The all custom banquette was the key. Hidden behind one of the benches is a heating and cooling unit. The bench comes easily apart for maintenance with the turn of four screws. This 60’s era house desperately needed a major renovation! For this Rolling Hills addition the owners sought to have additional living space and a complete redesign of every room. The design was created to add more space to the back of the home for a new family room, more space between the existing garage and house for the laundry room, and add a master suite with walk-in closet which took over the existing bathroom location. By installing Golden Honey ledger tile from floor to ceiling on the front living room fireplace instantly captures your eye and is the focal point of the room. The updated kitchen opens up to the new family room and kitchen nook with custom built-in bench seat, providing extra storage. The owner selected Executive shaker, bright white cabinetry, MSI Tajmahal Quartz countertops and Golden Honey ledger tile backsplash, with Kohler executive chef undermount sink and delta Trinsic kitchen faucet in Artic Stainless. The homeowner loves her built-in China cabinet for plenty of storage! New limestone terra porcelain floor tile was installed throughout the entire home along with upgraded windows and doors. The powder bathroom, Jack n Jill and Master bathroom were updated with new cabinetry, tile, countertops, flooring and fixtures.

An open concept kitchen with wide working triangle allows this family of four to comfortably work together in this modest 8"x10" space. Custom stained cherry shaker style cabinetry maximizes the small space. Dimmable LED lighting allows the users to create different ambiances. The tall gentlemen users requested the microwave not to be placed below the counter so the microwave height was carefully placed only 51" above the floor so that it is safe for most people to use.
