The perfect kitchen for a young family on the go. Natural light floods into this colorful, cheery kitchen with a seriously long kitchen island perfect for all the food prep, homework and Saturday morning DIY projects this family will be sharing, This kitchen is filled with some impressive tech and gadgets from the state of the art smart fridge that keeps track of grocery lists, family schedules, recipes and more to the sleek under-mount sink with multiple work station interchangeable accessories, drain shelves, and cutting boards to name a few. The corner chest freezer is one of our favorite hidden treasures - this was custom built with a top loading hinge tucked beneath the wood countertop surface.

For this kitchen, designed by Peter Bittner, the client had a very clear idea of what she wanted right from the start. She did her research. The mother of a fast growing, young family, she wanted something as efficient as it was beautiful – on the simple, yet elegant side. Her requests were straightforward: white and light grey Bilotta cabinetry in a transitional style so as not to compete with the detailing inside her 1950s Tudor-style home; a heated tile floor (By Rye Ridge Tile); stainless appliances; white subway tile backsplash by Walker Zanger (again to keep it clean and not compete with its surroundings); and seating at the island for snacks and homework. The “pop” suggested by Peter was done through the satin brass hardware and lighting fixtures. The real challenge with this space was to fit as much as possible into the existing footprint which was overall on the smaller side. The solution was eliminating a doorway (with a swinging door that opened into the kitchen) and stairs from the kitchen to the basement. By moving the stairs and doorway, the usable space increased considerably. The typical working triangle became the focus for one side of the kitchen and the island overhang and seating became available on the other side. To make up for the limited amount of wall cabinets Peter designed shallow pantry-style cabinets along the back wall. Quartz Countertops by Rom Stone Fabrication. This was a complete interior renovation project of a client’s second home. DEANE collaborated with the client on the design of 5 bathrooms and all the built-ins in addition to the kitchen. The home had an open floor plan with wide pine, bleached flooring throughout but was a challenge because of the various ceiling heights and support beams that needed to be accommodated.The homeowner wanted to able to casually host large gatherings without worrying about maintenance or upkeep. The kitchen cabinetry, featuring chamfer style doors, is painted a pale grey, with a darker, charcoal grey selected for the center island to accent the space. All appliances are stainless steel, with the dishwasher and trash/recycling drawers faced in the same material to mimic the dishwasher. The countertops are an engineered quartz in white, while the cooktop backsplash is a white ceramic tile in a soothing herringbone pattern. The counter cabinet with its glass front for dish storage and floating shelves that anchor two corners of the room are the designer’s favorite things about the space. There’s nothing quite like a cozy cottage to call home. Especially when you can get creative, renovating key spaces to balance modern convenience and vintage charm. We collaborated with the talented homeowners to bring their vision to life an the results speak for themselves. A gourmet kitchen fits seamlessly in the original home’s footprint and not one, but two thoughtfully re-designed bathrooms bring a slice of luxury and function to this sweet little home. The modern-meets-classic kitchen tiles started it all, setting the tone for the entire renovation. Gourmet appliances and custom cabinetry maximized function and storage and new lighting was a perfect finishing touch. We completely re-worked the home’s “master” bath (you should see the “before!”), adding a spacious frameless glass shower. In the basement, the new bathroom is every bit the retreat the homeowner dreamed of, with the freestanding composite tub, an enormous vanity and a hidden stackable washer and dryer. The decommissioned fireplace is oh-so decorative, showing off with new Ann Sacks marble mosaic tile. We are so excited to share with you this beautiful kitchen remodel in Lakeville, MN. Our clients came to us wanting to take out the wall between the kitchen and the dining room. By taking out the wall, we were able to create a new larger kitchen! We kept the sink in the same location, and then moved the stove to the same wall as the sink. The fridge was moved to the far wall, we added an oven/micro combinations and a large pantry. We even had some extra room to create a desk space. The coolest thing about this kitchen is the DOUBLE island! The island closest to the sink functions as a working island and the other is for entertaining with seating for guests. What really shines here is the combination of color that creates such a beautiful subtle elegance. The warm gray color of the cabinets were paired with the brown stained cabinets on the island. We then selected darker honed granite countertops on the perimeter cabinets and a light gray quartz countertop for the islands. The slightly marbled backsplash helps to tie everything in and give such a richness to the whole kitchen. I love adding little pops throughout the kitchen, so matte black hardware and the matte black sink light are perfect! We are so happy with the final result of this kitchen!
