I discovered Katy through a dear friend. I was at the beginning stages of renovating a barn and was thinking I just needed someone to help me with tile selections, paint colors, etc. Almost immediately, Katy spotted some things in my design that weren't optimal. They were things that no one else had noticed, including the builder and the draftsman. If I had not had the benefit of her expertise as a designer, I'm not sure I would have been fully happy with the final product. Thankfully, it is the sanctuary that I was hoping for, and more. Katy is great to work with. She's exceedingly patient. And she most definitely knows her stuff. I was beyond lucky to have her.

Katy did a fantastic job of guiding us through some tricky details of our mid century kitchen remodel. She's knowledgeable, thoughful, extremely detailed and a pleasure to work with. She uses all the latest tools to help clients visualize the project and uncover problems prior to construction. We now have a very detailed set of plans for our contractor who seemed very pleased with her work and our stress level is much lower. We look forward to working with her more once our project gets under way.

We have had the pleasure of working with Katy Krider [Interior Design] for our most recent project, our ‘forever home’. In a word, it has been a delight! Her interior design skills are exceptional as well as her knowledge of interior architecture. Katy quickly understood my/our tastes and incorporated those into all of our decisions, as well as providing new and wonderful ideas that we never would have thought of! When I felt overwhelmed on occasion, Katy was easily able to make the process manageable and actually enjoyable. She was completely instrumental in helping to make our complex project go smoothly and successfully. We are so thankful that Katy was referred to us!

I worked with Katy on a kitchen design for our home, it was my first time working with an interior designer and it's such a pleasure to work with someone who is super responsive to emails, knowledgeable and provides customers with lots of options. Because of Covid-19 we actually communicated via Zoom and emails but the process was smooth, her designs helped me and the cabinet maker create our dream kitchen. I wouldn't hesitate to rehire her for future projects.

If I could give 6 stars, I would! I hired Katy to do the practically impossible for me...plan & furnish the interiors of an almost empty apartment in a short timeframe. She helped articulate and refine my design concept and sourced the materials and pieces to make it a reality (a better reality than what I had envisioned). Her ability to listen to an idea, then expand on and execute it with creativity and thoughtfulness is what makes her really special. Katy's follow-up is outstanding - she continues to pass along thoughts and pieces she knows will suit my style. I would hire her again in a heartbeat (and I did, actually, to work on a separate, much larger commercial project), and enthusiastically recommend her to my friends and colleagues."

Katy helped me find the perfect exterior paint colors to make my house shine. She suggested a bold look for my entryway that is just stunning and suggested a simple carpentry fix to balance out its design. She is well versed in design and architecture and readily took my vague ideas and turned them into concrete improvements. With her help picking paint colors my home went from blah to wow.

Katy did the interior design for our historic home renovation in Portland. She was involved from top to bottom and through all phases of the project—from floor plan to architectural details to materials and surfaces to furniture selection and layout. Katy was instrumental in helping us explore, refine, and finalize floor plans, particularly for the kitchen and master suite. She was responsive and efficient, and her drawings were accurate, thorough, and beautiful. Katy's work made us comfortable that we'd explored all the reasonable options and made the right set of tradeoffs in our architectural plan. It's a more formal house than we've ever lived in, and we wanted to be true to its spirit and era. While Katy tends toward clean and modern interiors, she understood what we were going for and helped us achieve it. We are now in a home that we love and enjoy every day.

Master Bath Front Entry & Living Room Remodel

HIGHLY recommend working with Katy Krider! She was a tremendous help during our remodel—very professional & yet still approachable, and her drawings were accurate & detailed, exactly what our contractor needed. The remodel was a major transformation, & a great experience from start to finish—SUPER HAPPY with our end result!
