This fall, Amethyst had the opportunity to partner with Freeman Custom Homes of Kansas City to furnish this 5000 sq ft European Modern designed home for the Artisan Home Tour 2020! Every square inch of this home was magical -- from the secret staircase in the master bath leading to a private shuttered plunge pool to the vaulted kitchen with sky high mushroom colored cabinetry and handmade zellige tile. We met the builders during the cabinetry phase and watching their final, thoughtful design details evolve was such full of over-the-top surprises like the unique valet-like storage in the entry and limestone fireplace! As soon as we saw their vision for the home, we knew our furnishings would be a great match as our design style celebrates handmade rugs, artisan handmade custom seating, old-meets-new art, and let's be honest -- we love to go big! They trusted us to do our thing on the entire main level and we enjoyed every minute. The load in took 3 full trucks and fortunately for us -- the homeowners fell in love with several pieces so our uninstall trip was significantly lighter. I think we were all a little emotional leaving this masterpiece but sooooo happy for the owners and just hoping we get invited to a Christmas party... Here are some of the highlights -- 90% of the furnishings and rugs were from our shop and we filled in the gaps with some extra special pieces!

Dura Supreme Cabinetry's fixed partitions or adjustable dividers can be used to create vertical storage for trays, pans, cookie sheets, cutting boards, serving trays, and other large flat kitchen supplies. This white-on-white kitchen design has a transitional style and incorporates beautiful clean lines. It features a Personal Paint Match finish on the Kitchen Island matched to Sherwin-Williams "Threshold Taupe" SW7501 and a mix of light tan paint and vibrant orange décor. These colors really pop out on the “white canvas” of this design. The designer chose a beautiful combination of white Dura Supreme cabinetry (in "Classic White" paint), white subway tile backsplash, white countertops, white trim, and a white sink. The built-in breakfast nook (L-shaped banquette bench seating) attached to the kitchen island was the perfect choice to give this kitchen seating for entertaining and a kitchen island that will still have free counter space while the homeowner entertains. Seabrook features miles of shoreline just 30 minutes from downtown Houston. Our clients found the perfect home located on a canal with bay access, but it was a bit dated. Freshening up a home isn’t just paint and furniture, though. By knocking down some walls in the main living area, an open floor plan brightened the space and made it ideal for hosting family and guests. Our advice is to always add in pops of color, so we did just with brass. The barstools, light fixtures, and cabinet hardware compliment the airy, white kitchen. The living room’s 5 ft wide chandelier pops against the accent wall (not that it wasn’t stunning on its own, though). The brass theme flows into the laundry room with built-in dog kennels for the client’s additional family members. We love how bright and airy this bayside home turned out!

The redesigned kitchen is the true heart of this lakeside home. Enameled white pine ceiling hangs above an oversized quarter sawn white oak island topped with quartz and large enough for the extended family. A full-size Monogram Column refrigerator and freezer with cabinet doors sit side by side behind the island and the range and double ovens are framed by neutral gray subway tile and crisp white cabinetry on the adjacent wall. This luxurious kitchen is U-shaped providing an excess amount of storage and countertop space. With the island centered in the middle of the room it provides a straight view to the great room. With cream raised panel cabinets and quartz countertops mixed with the gray base cabinets on the island, there is nice balance. The gold pendant lighting surrounded by tray ceilings provides an elegant feel to the kitchen. The white subway tile is simple and not take away from the other focal points in the kitchen. The medium hardwood flooring creates a softness to the space.

A Kitchen Island – everyone’s dream. Just think of all the extra cupboard space and extra work surface that comes with an island. Our bespoke handmade kitchens here in London normally include a kitchen island and this London townhouse kitchen was no exception. The homeowners of this luxury kitchen in London decided to have their cabinets hand painted in Lamp Room Gray, a Farrow and Ball colour which contrasted perfectly with the Steel Grey Granite worktop. For the island cabinets our Clients chose Railings another Farrow and Ball colour which contrasted beautifully with the brilliant white quartz worktop. What a contrast in colour and what a contrast in design, for this beautiful London townhouse.
