This client had an existing wall of cabinets that he wanted to integrate into a new bar in the basement of his home. However, he did not want to do the same color cabinetry all around the space. So we had all the new cabinetry made in cherry with a Shale Truetone and pewter glaze. Then to make the existing cabinetry tie in, we had the Chicago Bar rail top make and stained to the shade of the existing cabinetry. With all the detail work that Vince from Still Waters did, this came out perfectly!

We opted for an Art Deco-inspired scheme. We designed the bar’s concave wood panels which were coated with a platinum finish. The rear wall area onto which shelves are mounted is sheathed with sheets of antiqued mercury glass. There are an aged brass sink and its matching faucet on the left side.

This house has a cool modern vibe, but the pre-rennovation layout was not working for these homeowners. We were able to take their vision of an open kitchen and living area and make it come to life. Simple, clean lines and a large great room are now in place. We tore down dividing walls and came up with an all new layout. These homeowners are absolutely loving their home with their new spaces! Un progetto che fonde materiali e colori naturali ad una vista ed una location cittadina, un mix di natura ed urbano, due realtà spesso in contrasto ma che trovano un equilibrio in questo luogo. Jungle perchè abbiamo volutamente inserito le piante come protagoniste del progetto. Un verde che non solo è ecosostenibile, ma ha poca manutenzione e non crea problematiche funzionali. Le troviamo non solo nei vasi, ma abbiamo creato una sorta di bosco verticale che riempie lo spazio oltre ad avere funzione estetica. In netto contrasto a tutto questo verde, troviamo uno stile a tratti “Minimal Chic” unito ad un “Industrial”. Li potete riconoscere nell’utilizzo del tessuto per divanetti e sedute, che però hanno una struttura metallica tubolari, in tinta Champagne Semilucido. Grande attenzione per la privacy, che è stata ricavata creando delle vere e proprie barriere di verde tra i tavoli. Questo progetto infatti ha come obiettivo quello di creare uno spazio rilassante all’interno del caos di una città, una location dove potersi rilassare dopo una giornata di intenso lavoro con una spettacolare vista sulla città.

With a bar this fabulous in your own basement, who’d want to go out? It features two under counter refrigerators to keep cold beverages handy, a dishwasher so you don’t need to run glassware up and down the stairs, a glass rinsing faucet, and a microwave perfect for movie night popcorn. The navy blue cabinets, Carrara marble, brass hardware, and dark herringbone floors make it feel more like a luxury hotel bar than a basement. A lighted open top section in the wall cabinets displays decorative treasures while a base cabinet cleverly conceals utilities. I loved working on this project for some dear friends, and collaborated with their favorite contractor, Mastr-Jay Renovations, to pull this off.
