Regarding Design
Sumptuous spaces are created throughout the house with the use of dark, moody colors, elegant upholstery with bespoke trim details, unique wall coverings, and natural stone with lots of movement.
The mix of print, pattern, and artwork creates a modern twist on traditional design.

Lower angle view highlighting the pitch of this Western Red Cedar perfection shingle roof we recently installed on this expansive and intricate New Canaan, CT residence. This installation involved numerous dormers, valleys and protrusions, and over 8,000 square feet of copper chromated arsenate-treated cedar.

Cummings Architecture + Interiors
The Johnson-Thompson house is the oldest house in Winchester, MA, dating back to the early 1700s. The addition and renovation expanded the structure and added three full bathrooms including a spacious two-story master bathroom, as well as an additional bedroom for the daughter. The kitchen was moved and expanded into a large open concept kitchen and family room, creating additional mud-room and laundry space. But with all the new improvements, the original historic fabric and details remain. The moldings are copied from original pieces, salvaged bricks make up the kitchen backsplash. Wood from the barn was reclaimed to make sliding barn doors. The wood fireplace mantels were carefully restored and original beams are exposed throughout the house. It's a wonderful example of modern living and historic preservation.

The front elevation shows the formal entry to the house. A stone path the the side leads to an informal entry. Set into a slope, the front of the house faces a hill covered in wildflowers. The pool house is set farther down the hill and can be seem behind the house.

This home is one of my favorite applications we have ever done!
The colors and combinations of stone on this home integrated with the other materials provide such a unique foundation for this home.
The combination of wood, painted wood, stained wood (different stain colors), stucco and stone give this home a one of a kind feel.
Now to the stone. First off, I love the rust color of this stone (the doors have the same color stain to really bring that out). Well on this application we used two stones from the NC Mountains and a stone from Tennessee. As you can see in the right of the picture the veneer stone is drystacked in a subtle way that really accentuates the rust color and in my favorite detail we used River Rock about all the doors and windows as an accent stone and it looks amazing! The Tennessee flagstone is used as cap on all of the walls and ledges.
Let me just say one thing about Tennessee flagstone, it can go almost anywhere in a flat situation and complements everything so well.

Siding & Windows Group Ltd
For this beautiful renovation we started by removing the old siding, trim, brackets and posts. Installed new James Hardie Board and Batten Siding, HardieTrim, Soffit and Fascia and new gutters. For the finish touch, we added a metal roof, began by the removal of Front Entry rounded peak, reframed and raised the slope slightly to install new standing seam Metal Roof to Front Entry.
