The use of texture on walls, furnishings and fabrics, along with unexpected accents of deep orange, add a cozy feel to the open layout. “I used splashes of orange because it’s a favorite color of mine and of my clients’,” she says. “It’s a hue that lends itself to warmth and energy — this house has a lot of warmth and energy, just like the owners.” With a nod to the family’s South American heritage, a large, wood architectural element greets visitors as soon as they step off the elevator. The jigsaw design — pieces of cherry wood that fit together like a puzzle — is a work of art in itself. Visible from nearly every room, this central nucleus not only adds warmth and character, but also, acts as a divider between the formal living room and family room….. 余白のある家 本計画は京都市左京区にある閑静な住宅街の一角にある敷地で既存の建物を取り壊し、新たに新築する計画。周囲は、低層の住宅が立ち並んでいる。既存の建物も同計画と同じ三階建て住宅で、既存の3階部分からは、周囲が開け開放感のある景色を楽しむことができる敷地となっていた。この開放的な景色を楽しみ暮らすことのできる住宅を希望されたため、三階部分にリビングスペースを設ける計画とした。敷地北面には、山々が開け、南面は、低層の住宅街の奥に夏は花火が見える風景となっている。その景色を切り取るかのような開口部を設け、窓際にﾍﾞﾝﾁをつくり外との空間を繋げている。北側の窓は、出窓としキッチンスペースの一部として使用できるように計画とした。キッチンやリビングスペースの一部が外と繋がり開放的で心地よい空間となっている。 また、今回のクライアントは、20代であり今後の家族構成は未定である、また、自宅でリモートワークを行うため、居住空間のどこにいても、心地よく仕事ができるスペースも確保する必要があった。このため、既存の住宅のように当初から個室をつくることはせずに、将来の暮らしにあわせ可変的に部屋をつくれるような余白がふんだんにある空間とした。1Ｆは土間空間となっており、2Ｆまでの吹き抜け空間いる。現状は、広場とした外部と繋がる土間空間となっており、友人やペット飼ったりと趣味として遊べ、リモートワークでゆったりした空間となった。将来的には個室をつくったりと暮らしに合わせさまざまに変化することができる計画となっている。敷地の条件や、クライアントの暮らしに合わせるように変化するできる建物はクライアントとともに成長しつづけ暮らしによりそう建物となった。

On the recommendation of friends who live in the penthouse, homeowner Danny Bensusan asked interior designer Jennifer Corredor to renovate his 3,000-square-foot Bal Harbour condominium. “I liked her ideas,” he says, so he gave her carte blanche. The challenge was to make this home unique and reflect a Floridian style different from the owner’s traditional residence on New York’s Brooklyn Bay as well as his Manhattan apartment. Water was the key. Besides enjoying the oceanfront property, Bensusan, an avid fisherman, was pleased that the location near a marina allowed access to his boat. But the original layout closed off the rooms from Atlantic vistas, so Jennifer Corredor eliminated walls to create a large open living space with water views from every angle. “I emulated the ocean by bringing in hues of blue, sea mist and teal,” Jennifer Corredor says. In the living area, bright artwork is enlivened by an understated wave motif set against a beige backdrop. From curvaceous lines on a pair of silk area rugs and grooves on the cocktail table to a subtle undulating texture on the imported Maya Romanoff wall covering, Jennifer Corredor’s scheme balances the straight, contemporary lines. “It’s a modern apartment with a twist,” the designer says. Melding form and function with sophistication, the living area includes the dining area and kitchen separated by a column treated in frosted glass, a design element echoed throughout the space. “Glass diffuses and enriches rooms without blocking the eye,” Jennifer Corredor says. Quality materials including exotic teak-like Afromosia create a warm effect throughout the home. Bookmatched fine-grain wood shapes the custom-designed cabinetry that offsets dark wenge-stained wood furnishings in the main living areas. Between the entry and kitchen, the design addresses the owner’s request for a bar, creating a continuous flow of Afromosia with touch-latched doors that cleverly conceal storage space. The kitchen island houses a wine cooler and refrigerator. “I wanted a place to entertain and just relax,” Bensusan says. “My favorite place is the kitchen. From the 16th floor, it overlooks the pool and beach — I can enjoy the views over wine and cheese with friends.” Glass doors with linear etchings lead to the bedrooms, heightening the airy feeling. Appropriate to the modern setting, an Asian sensibility permeates the elegant master bedroom with furnishings that hug the floor. “Japanese style is simplicity at its best,” the designer says. Pale aqua wall covering shows a hint of waves, while rich Brazilian Angico wood flooring adds character. A wall of frosted glass creates a shoji screen effect in the master suite, a unique room divider tht exemplifies the designer’s signature stunning bathrooms. A distinctive wall application of deep Caribbean Blue and Mont Blanc marble bands reiterates the lightdrenched panel. And in a guestroom, mustard tones with a floral motif augment canvases by Venezuelan artist Martha Salas-Kesser.
