The clients lived in a beautiful Arts & Crafts style home but their kitchen was contemporary with white laminate cabinets & countertops resulting in a discordant feel to the rest of their home. An open concept family kitchen with Arts and Crafts elements was created using rich wood tones and dark iron hardware alongside the colorful tile backsplash and mission style lighting. Multiple work zones and a banquet seating area make this kitchen the heart of their home and a gathering place for all.

This traditional kitchen features warm colors and tall cabinetry, which leaves plenty of storage space for these homeowners. The glass paneled cabinetry doors also allow the homeowners to display decorative items and help break up the cabinetry to add visual interest to this rustic kitchen.

A nice neutral brown stain on cherry wood lends this kitchen a calm but formal feel. The main work area is a U shaped counter with the refrigerator recessed into the wall at the end. A separate wet bar with microwave and serving buffet allows the party to start while the cook is still prepping. Another feature is the ample pantry storage provided by the tall cabinets to the left of the U. Remodel using Brookhaven cabinetry.

Our client for this project envisioned a whimsical great room design that was conducive to hosting gatherings and her ongoing book club. The careful selection of fabrics for the drapery was key to pulling the design together. The airy botanical print became the inspiration for the rest of the color scheme, starting with soft green painted walls. To complete the vision, we placed her colorful inlaid table in the center of the room and surrounded it with trellis-backed rattan chairs, to create a charming small dining area. Our client’s finished great room is now an oasis of tranquility and charm. She’s thrilled to have her new “happy place” – a beautiful, welcoming space to entertain her friends and family.
