Project Kitchen Gorgeous was designed for a client who wanted glamour and luxury in her kitchen. Upper Cabinets were removed in favour of open shelves so that the client could highlight her collections and still allow for function. Calcatta marble was used because the veining could not be beat and we added antique mirror to pantry doors to hide all the things you don't want on display. This kitchen looks more like a high end fashion showroom than it does an actual workspace. Photos: Donna Griffith

Our Kelowna based clients were eyeing a Vancouver interior designer, although there were plenty of capable ones locally. When we enquired as to why, they said they wanted a unique style, so we set out on our journey together. The design was totally based on the client’s passion for cooking and entertaining – one of them being an introvert, the other being an extrovert. We decided to fit two islands in the available space, so we started referring to them as “the introvert island” and “the extrovert island”.

The redesigned kitchen features new cabinets to the ceiling, the lower ones painted Benjamin Moore's Ocean Floor. Calacatta marble covers the counters and white subway tile was used for the backsplash.

For this 1928 bungalow in the Historic Houston Heights we remodeled the home to give a sense of order to the small home. The spaces that existed were choppy and doors everywhere. In a small space doors can really eat into your living area. We took our cues for style from our contemporary loving clients and their Craftsman bungalow. Our remodel plans focused on the kitchen and den area. There’s a formal living and then an additional living area off the back of the kitchen. We brought purpose to the back den by creating built-ins centered around the windows for their book collection. The window seats and the moveable chairs are seating for the many parties our client’s like to throw. The original kitchen had multiple entries. We closed off a door to the master bedroom to move the refrigerator. That enabled us to open the wall to the front of the house creating a sense of a much larger space while also providing a great flow for entertaining. To reflect our client’s contemporary leaning style we kept the materials white and simple in a way that fits with the house style but doesn’t feel fussy.

An updated classic Shaker kitchen remodel with modern flourishes, including stone countertops, telescoping range hood, double convection ovens, flush-mount electric stove top, ceiling height cabinets, new oak flooring, recessed lighting, and new French door entry.

This kitchen is nothing short of bold sophistication overflowing with playful elegance from gold accents to the glistening crystal chandelier above the island. We took advantage of the large window above the 7’ galley workstation to bring in a great deal of natural light and a beautiful view of the backyard. Between the warm tones of light flooring and the light whites and blues of the cabinetry, the kitchen is well-balanced with a bright and airy atmosphere. In a kitchen full of light and symmetrical elements, on the end of the island we incorporated an asymmetrical focal point finished in a dark slate. This four drawer piece is wrapped in safari brasilica wood that purposefully carries the warmth of the floor up and around the end piece to ground the space further. The wow factor of this kitchen are the geometric glossy gold tiles of the hood creating a glamorous accent against a marble backsplash above the cooktop. This kitchen is not only classically striking but also highly functional. The versatile wall, opposite of the galley workstation, includes an integrated refrigerator, freezer, steam oven, convection oven, two appliance garages, and tall cabinetry for pantry items. The kitchen’s layout of appliances creates a fluid circular flow in the kitchen. Across from the kitchen stands a slate gray wine hutch incorporated into the wall. The doors and drawers have a gilded diamond mesh in the center panels. This mesh ties in the golden accents around the kitchens décor and allows you to have a peek inside the hutch when the interior lights are on for a soft glow creating a beautiful transition into the living room. This Paradise Valley stunner was a down-to-the-studs renovation. The owner, a successful business woman and owner of Bungalow Scottsdale -- a fabulous furnishings store, had a very clear vision. DW's mission was to re-imagine the 1970's solid block home into a modern and open place for a family of three. The house initially was very compartmentalized including lots of small rooms and too many doors to count. With a mantra of simplify, simplify, simplify, Architect CP Drewett began to look for the hidden order to craft a space that lived well. This residence is a Moroccan world of white topped with classic Morrish patterning and finished with the owner's fabulous taste. The kitchen was established as the home's center to facilitate the owner's heart and swagger for entertaining. The public spaces were reimagined with a focus on hospitality. Practicing great restraint with the architecture set the stage for the owner to showcase objects in space. Her fantastic collection includes a glass-top faux elephant tusk table from the set of the infamous 80's television series, Dallas. It was a joy to create, collaborate, and now celebrate this amazing home. Project Details: Architecture: C.P.
