This huge hallway landing space was transformed from a neglected area to a cozy corner for sipping coffee, reading, relaxing, hosting friends and soaking in the sunlight whenever possible. In this space I tried to use most of the furniture client already possessed. So, it's a great example of mixing up different materials like wooden armchair, marble & metal nesting tables, upholstered sofa, wood tripod lamp to create an eclectic yet elegant space.

This small, north-east facing garden, measuring around 100 m2, was in need of a complete transformation to bring it into line with the owner's interior style and the desire for an outdoor room experience. A series of bi-folding doors led out to a relatively small patio and raised lawn area. The objective was to create a design that would maximise the space, making it feel much larger and provide usable areas that the owners could enjoy throughout the day as the sun moves around the garden. An asymmetrical design with different focal points and material contrasts was deployed to achieve the impression of a larger, yet still harmonious, space. The overall garden style was Japanese-inspired with pared back hard landscaping materials and plants with interesting foliage and texture, such as Acers, Prunus serrula cherry tree, cloud pruned Ilex crenata, clumping bamboo and Japanese grasses featuring throughout the garden's wide borders. A new lower terrace was extended across the full width of the garden to allow the space to be fully used for morning coffee and afternoon dining. Porcelain tiles with an aged wood effect were used to clad a new retaining wall and step risers, with limestone-effect porcelain tiles used for the lower terrace. New steps were designed to create an attractive transition from the lower to the upper level where the previous lawn was completely removed in favour of a second terrace using the same low-maintenance wood effect porcelain tiles. A raised bed constructed in black timber sleepers was installed to deal with ground level changes at the upper level, while at the lower level another raised bed provides an attractive retaining edge backfilled with bamboo. New fencing was installed and painted black, a nod to the Japanese shou sugi ban method of charring wood to maintain it. Finally, a combination of carefully chosen outdoor furniture, garden statuary and bespoke planters complete the look. Discrete garden lighting set into the steps, retaining wall and house walls create a soft ambient lighting in which to sit and enjoy the garden after dark.

This bathroom was updated with a Waypoint 410S Painted Stone Door vanity with matching medicine cabinet. Quartz on the vanity with 4” back and end splash and includes the shower threshold. 12x24 field tile for the main floor and shower walls and mosaic tile for the shower floor and niche were installed. Moen Voss Collection in Brushed Nickel includes faucet, toilet paper holder, towel ring, towel bar, shower head/faucet and toilet tank lever. A Kohler Wellworth 2 piece toilet in white. Includes a new bypass shower clear ¼” door with Brushed Nickel finish.

Il fronte dell’edificio che si affaccia sul giardino retrostante, non visibile dalla strada, in realtà si apre completamente sulla campagna retrostante, la “vigna” e l’oliveto, e diventa lo spazio privato di relazione, uno spazio estroverso che attraverso le ampie vetrate si fonde con il paesaggio rendendo il confine tra interno ed esterno effimero. All’interno ritroviamo una sorpresa spaziale simile al rapporto tra il fronte strada e il retro; mentre dall’esterno ci si aspetterebbe un interno tipico delle vecchie strutture a muri portanti, una volta varcata la soglia di ingresso lo spazio esplode e si dilata in una spazialità totalmente contemporanea con ampi spazi aperti altamente flessibili e doppie altezze. Le due abitazioni sono state divise in senso verticale, con un attento lavoro di “agopuntura architettonica” per rispondere al meglio alle diverse esigenze spaziali dei due nuclei familiari e per permettere ad entrambe di avere le stesse relazioni con il paesaggio e le visuali circostanti. A livello di interior design abbiamo optato per una palette di pochi materiali semplici e pratici, cemento a faccia vista, pavimenti in cemento, compensato di betulla, rovere e pietra, riutilizzando in parte i vecchi materiali provenienti dalla demolizione per trasmettere al nuovo il DNA della vecchia costruzione e stabilire una continuità affettiva tra i manufatti di famiglia.

The beautiful emerald tile really makes this remodel pop! For this project, we started with a new deep soaking tub, shower niche, and Latricrete Hydro-Ban waterproofing. The finishes included emerald green subway tile, Kohler Brass fixtures, and a Kohler sliding shower door. We finished up with a few final touches to the mirror, lighting, and towel rods.
