When a world class sailing champion approached us to design a Newport home for his family, with lodging for his sailing crew, we set out to create a clean, light-filled modern home that would integrate with the natural surroundings of the waterfront property, and respect the character of the historic district. Our approach was to make the marine landscape an integral feature throughout the home. One hundred eighty degree views of the ocean from the top floors are the result of the pinwheel massing. The home is designed as an extension of the curvilinear approach to the property through the woods and reflects the gentle undulating waterline of the adjacent saltwater marsh. Floodplain regulations dictated that the primary occupied spaces be located significantly above grade; accordingly, we designed the first and second floors on a stone “plinth” above a walk-out basement with ample storage for sailing equipment. The curved stone base slopes to grade and houses the shallow entry stair, while the same stone clads the interior’s vertical core to the roof, along which the wood, glass and stainless steel stair ascends to the upper level. One critical programmatic requirement was enough sleeping space for the sailing crew, and informal party spaces for the end of race-day gatherings. The private master suite is situated on one side of the public central volume, giving the homeowners views of approaching visitors. A “bedroom bar,” designed to accommodate a full house of guests, emerges from the other side of the central volume, and serves as a backdrop for the infinity pool and the cove beyond. Also essential to the design process was ecological sensitivity and stewardship. The wetlands of the adjacent saltwater marsh were designed to be restored; an extensive geo-thermal heating and cooling system was implemented; low carbon footprint materials and permeable surfaces were used where possible. Native and non-invasive plant species were utilized in the landscape. With no windows or natural light, we used a combination of artificial light, open space, and white walls to brighten this master bath remodel. Over the white, we layered a sophisticated palette of finishes that embrace color, pattern, and texture: 1) long hex accent tile in “lemongrass” gold from Walker Zanger (mounted vertically for a new take on mid-century aesthetics); 2) large format slate gray floor tile to ground the room; 3) textured 2X10 glossy white shower field tile (can’t resist touching it); 4) rich walnut wraps with heavy graining to define task areas; and 5) dirty blue accessories to provide contrast and interest. To create enough room to add a dual vanity, Blackline integrated an adjacent closet and borrowed some square footage from an existing closet to the space. The new modern vanity includes stained walnut flat panel cabinets and is topped with white Quartz and matte black fixtures.

This master bath was reconfigured by opening up the wall between the former tub/shower, and a dry vanity. A new transom window added in much-needed natural light. This client has been a client with EdenLA since 2010, and this is one of the projects we have done with them through the years. We are in planning phases now of a historical Spanish stunner in Hancock Park, but more on that later. This home reflected our awesome clients' affinity for the modern. A slight sprucing turned into a full renovation complete with additions of this mid century modern house that was more fitting for their growing family. Working with this client is always truly collaborative and we enjoy the end results immensely. Во время разработки проекта встал вопрос о том, какой материал можно использовать кроме плитки, после чего дизайнером было предложено разбавить серый интерьер натуральным теплым деревом, которое с легкостью переносит влажность. Конечно же, это дерево - тик. В результате, пол и стена напротив входа были выполнены в этом материале. В соответствии с концепцией гостиной, мы сочетали его с серым материалом: плиткой под камень; а зону ванной выделили иной плиткой затейливой формы.

When demoing this space the shower needed to be turned...the stairwell tread from the downstairs was framed higher than expected. It is now hidden from view under the bench. Needing it to move furthur into the expansive shower than truly needed, we created a ledge and capped it for product/backrest. We also utilized the area behind the bench for open cubbies for towels.

This contemporary bathroom design in Jackson, MI combines unique features to create a one-of-a-kind style. The dark, rich finish Medallion Gold vanity cabinet with furniture style feet is accented by Top Knobs hardware. The cabinetry is topped by a Cambria luxury white quartz countertop with dramatic black and gold accents. The homeowner added towels and accessories to bring out these color accents, creating a striking atmosphere for this bathroom. Details are key in creating a unique bathroom design, like the TEC glitter grout that accents the gray CTI porcelain floor tile. The large alcove shower is a highlight of this space, with a frameless glass hinged door and built-in shower bench. The Delta showerheads are sure to make this a place to relax with a combination of handheld and standard showerheads along with body sprays.

Alder wood custom cabinetry in this hallway bathroom with a Braziilian Cherry wood floor features a tall cabinet for storing linens surmounted by generous moulding. There is a bathtub/shower area and a niche for the toilet. The white undermount double sinks have bronze faucets by Santec complemented by a large framed mirror.
