Making SpacesKids bathrooms and curves.
Toddlers, wet tiles and corners don't mix, so I found ways to add as many soft curves as I could in this kiddies bathroom. The round ended bath was tiled in with fun kit-kat tiles, which echoes the rounded edges of the double vanity unit. Those large format, terrazzo effect porcelain tiles disguise a multitude of sins too?a very family friendly space which just makes you smile when you walk on in.
A lot of clients ask for wall mounted taps for family bathrooms, well let’s face it, they look real nice. But I don’t think they’re particularly family friendly. The levers are higher and harder for small hands to reach and water from dripping fingers can splosh down the wall and onto the top of the vanity, making a right ole mess. Some of you might disagree, but this is what i’ve experienced and I don't rate.
So for this bathroom, I went with a pretty bombproof all in one, moulded double sink with no nooks and crannies for water and grime to find their way to.
The double drawers house all of the bits and bobs needed by the sink and by keeping the floor space clear, there’s plenty of room for bath time toys baskets.
The brief: can you design a bathroom suitable for two boys (1 and 4)? So I did. It was fun!

LSP-DesignsShower products can be stored on a recessed shelf in the wall of the shower. Both the floor and the wall are covered with cream ceramic tiles. The accent wall has grey tiles. A hand-held shower is conveniently located for ease of cleaning.

Bastet Design HouseA light palette with very minimal brass fixtures, making the Tadelakt and the booked match wall the true stars.
Perhaps it’s because of its exotic provenance or perhaps because it connects us to nature, but tadelakt is is one of our favorite material so far. A plaster that has a special application and finish, Tadelakt was originally invented and used by the Berbers in Morocco. It was used for walls, sinks, showers and drinking vessels. It feels both sophisticated and rudimentary at the same time.

CCASA ArchitectsOn the second floor, a new family bathroom was designed. Our client loved to have long baths while having a glass of wine so the bathroom was designed to fulfil her wishes with a lovely free standing bath and some close shelving.
CARVAJALOne room in the house for the kids had to go wild, with colours that said "this is our territory". Since the room was going to be striking, we went with the kids bathroom. If they go wild it is all easy to tidy and clean.
Kids are known for a good sibling "discussion". We thought two sinks might help.
In addition, we made sure there was plenty of storage in the room.
Bathrooms By OldhamBathrooms By Oldham were engaged to renovate the bathroom in an apartment in the heart of manly.
The original bathroom was dark and felt enclosed - both of which we wanted to change.
Being the top floor apartment the skylight was an option to bring natural light and air into the space - not only did this brighten up the bathroom it also floods light into the hallway.
To make this compact bathroom feel bigger we opted for a wall hung vanity in timber. Having the vanity floating creates a sense of space as you are able to see under and past the vanity giving the room depth.
To add length to the space we opted for a dark herringbone feature wall at the back of the room with a custom Corian frame around the niche - this draws the eyes attention to the back wall and makes the wall feel further away then it is.
Other features in the space:
Heated towel rail recessed into a niche allowing the door to fully open.
Strip lighting on a sensor
Solid timber vanity and shaving cabinet
Luxury Australian Made tapware
Waterfall bath outlet
Italian tiles
