This custom wine cellar was specifically designed (side walls) to hold 11 bottles of wine on the bottom and a display row on top. This wine room then has a second display row and 11 bottles above. A custom designed walk in wine cellar such as this allows the customer to diplay a bottle and unload the case either above or below that display row. The wood species inside this beautiful small wine room is distressed and weathered redwood, with features including wine case storage, diamond bins, and high reveal wine bottle display. An unused small home office was transformed into haven in a suburban Texas home. For this space, function came first and the aesthetics were layered in. If a project does not meet its intended purpose, it is not successful. Incorporating the couples love of Argentina, bottle count, display appeal, case storage, and the ability to maintain a 55-degree environment were all design considerations. Specialized craftsman were hired to help with cooling, insulation, placement of the condenser, etc. An expert carpenter contributed his expert skills and knack for creating storage solutions. Strong beams were used to highlight the tiled ceiling and create an authentic grotto look. Pebble flooring adds to the Old World feel. Stone walls and herringbone ceiling lend an aged element. A medallion carefully selected from a little known source in Argentina is the centerpiece of the room; its pattern and color blends with the rest of the home’s decor and the inlaid glass tile adds shimmer. Double-paned iron and glass doors seal the room and create an entry of interest.

Instead of a dark cave, the wine room is treated an open, communal entertainment. the wine room proper is separated from the entertainment area by demising floor to ceiling glass to control for climate and humidity for the wine. The beauty of the series wine bottles remain visible and a focal feature the overall space. The ends of the Dark mahogany cabinet racks are treated as a series of tall armoires, and with usual walls removed, the wine racks are further displayed as halls. The floor is Onyx and in the interior one wall displays antique french decanters that is lit through an onyx wall behind them. (left side of photo).

This unique custom wine cellar was installed in the La Costa / San Elijo Hills area in San Diego. Offset a few miles from the beach, this gorgeous area has the advantage of a constant sea breeze, keeping the surrounding microclimate some ten plus degrees cooler than just over the hill a bit further inland. This sleek and contemporary looking furniture piece, nestled up against the far wall within the temperature and humidity controlled wine room, acts as the main focus within the space. This style of racking fitted into the wine cabinet is the vintage view wall series. The wine cabinet also includes space for grouped bottles as well as wine case storage. The client's idea for the space was to have a gorgeous showpiece wall of wines, coupled with a small and intimate area to enjoy the bottles with friends. The small open space centered between the racking in this large wine cellar can also be utilized as a perfect spot to decant wine.
