This is where the range was. The range was replaced with a cook top, and moved to an exterior wall for better venting. Now we had room for a wine fridge. This area also provides space for counter top appliances, out of view from the dining area.

Not part of the original renovation, this wine cellar has a unique and special place in the present family's lives. The wine cellar was a 25th wedding anniversary gift from the husband to his wife. It was constructed while the wife and a son were away on a 9 month service learning sabbatical. It was formerly the boiler room with a coal chute. The American walnut that was used was harvested from a felled tree on the property following a storm in 2010. The husband had the walnut cut into boards to be used for a project at some time in the future. It is now part of a wine cellar built by the oldest son and his grandfather for their mom/daughter. The random width engineered American walnut is finished with WOCA hardening European oil.

Unassuming Storage building? Guess again. This gorgeous custom wine cellar, designed and built by wine cellar design experts, Vintage Cellars, shows that you can outfit virtually any space to be a one of a kind, perfect place for wine storage. Here in Laguna Beach, Orange County California, the temperatures stay pretty nice year round. Through the magic of wine cellar vapor barrier and insulation, the design build team at Vintage Cellars was able to properly prepare this outbuilding to store over 1700 collectible wines. Working closely with the client, we were able to understand that although display is nice - uncompromising long term storage was the overarching goal. Sweeping throughout the room above, individual bottle storage reigns to maximize bottle count. At about chest height, you can see two rows of angled high reveal display. Here, the homeowner placed his prized bottles - just a glimpse of what this incredible collection holds. Directly in the center of this medium sized wine room lies a small peninsula - a small section jetting out where larger format bottles are kept atop, as well as more space below in individual bottle storage. A small tabletop can be utilized to open wines or to let your favorites decant while you peruse the gems throughout. Below again is more individual bottle storage, sitting atop gorgeous Mediterranean style tile. Another unique feature of this wine cellar / wine room / wine storage space / wine closet / wine shed / wine vault / custom wine cellar / custom wine room / custom wood wine cellar / redwood wine cellar is the bridge across the top of the door. Often, this space can be overlooked, but the experts at Vintage Cellars are seasoned in delivering a desired end result. We were able to squeeze in another 100 bottles above the doorframe - and it looks fantastic. This Raw Redwood wooden wine cellar has a recessed cooling unit in the ceiling, with wood paneling behind the racking to add to the pleasing golden hue of the wine racks themselves. The Cicero is a modern styled home for today’s contemporary lifestyle. It features sweeping facades with deep overhangs, tall windows, and grand outdoor patio. The contemporary lifestyle is reinforced through a visually connected array of communal spaces. The kitchen features a symmetrical plan with large island and is connected to the dining room through a wide opening flanked by custom cabinetry. Adjacent to the kitchen, the living and sitting rooms are connected to one another by a see-through fireplace. The communal nature of this plan is reinforced downstairs with a lavish wet-bar and roomy living space, perfect for entertaining guests. This Sonoma County tasting room facelift uses inexpensive, “off-the-shelf” materials and straightforward design to reflect the Taft Street brand of “quality, everyday wine at a good value”. Having started in a garage, the owners wanted humble and approachable materials – so the space relies on plywood and rough framing lumber as finish materials. Concrete floors continue the industrial feel of the nearby production areas, while chalk-board black walls, gray and orange wool furnishings and cork stools make the space inviting and fun.
