MARGARITA BRAVO
We gave this Montecito home a chic and transitional style. My client was looking for a timeless, elegant yet warm and comfortable space. This fun and functional interior was designed for the family to spend time together and hosting friends.

The den features a custom velvet sofa set against a wall of graphic orange and grey wallpaper. A large, white coffee table, Moroccan-style area rug, and vintage, silver side tables compliment the overall look.

This project started small, with the clients’ desire to remodel the existing kitchen. When our analysis of the existing conditions revealed the extent to which the house’s many previous additions had failed to enrich each other or unify the whole, the scope of work bloomed to include extensive renovations throughout the first floor. We’ve sought to bring a cohesion and clarity to this already commodious house quite beautifully sited.
Much of the design attention in this project was focused on meetings and overlaps. The autonomy and dignity of individual spaces was restored with the creation and use of interstitial spaces; the spaces between. The doorway between kitchen and dining becomes a display pantry and wet bar, the entry foyer is framed with a narrower opening, and the way to the Living Room is re-shaped with a paneled deep jamb.
The story is recounted in the January / February 2013 edition of New England Home.

The room is now ready for lounging and/or entertaining. The deep, comfortable, classic Chesterfield leather sofa is a modern way to introduce a classic piece. By incorporating additional seating, x-stools, and minimal accent tables, we delivered on our client's wish for a space that can easily accommodate a group of 7 (seats 11 people including the dining nook). The integration of mirrored and glass surfaces reflects the natural light from the oversized windows balancing out the heavier pieces and textures to maintain an open and airy feel.

A glamorous living room in a regency inspired style with art deco influences. The silver-leafed barrel chairs were upholstered in a Romo cut velvet on the outside and midnight blue velvet on the front seat back and cushion. The acrylic and glass cocktail table with brass accents keeps the room feeling airy and modern. The mirrored center stair table by Bungalow 5 is just the right sparkle and glamour of Hollywood glamour. The room is anchored by the dramatic wallpaper's large scale geometric pattern of graphite gray and soft gold accents. The custom drapery is tailored and classic with it's contrasting tape and silver and acrylic hardware to tie in the colors and material accents of the room.
