For this newly-built waterfront home on Long Island’s north shore, Bakes & Kropp designed a modern, transitional kitchen and complimentary bathroom spaces. Led by Senior Kitchen Designer Mary Dimichino, the design team drew inspiration from the peaceful water vista framed by the kitchen windows. The result is an open, airy space with clean lines and a soothing mixture of white and walnut finishes tempered by polished metal accents.

Some great rooms are really great! This one features a large taupe grey island with raised bar seating, Off white perimeter cabinets and sturdy utilitarian stools, hardware and light fixtures. The look is eclectic transitional. An intentional cornflower blue accent color is used for glass subway back splash tile, patio door, rugs, and accessories to connect and balance this expansive cheerful space where an active family of seven, occupy every square inch of space. Like most high rises in the city, this kitchen was lacking in square footage. To give the illusion of more space, super white cabinetry from Grabill Cabinet Company and Arabascato quartzite countertops were installed. Perfect for entertaining, dual peninsulas comfortably provide seating for four people. The multi-tiered ceiling provides both general task lighting & ambient cove lighting accentuating the architectural details in this kitchen. The Wolf induction cooktop and single oven, along with the Broan ventilation system, fit perfectly on limited available wall space. Neutral arabesque glass backsplash tile was used on the wall behind the hood to create an eye-catching focal point.

This remodel created one grand space out of three separate rooms. The home is a traditional raised ranch, and we doubled the kitchen counter and cabinet space without increasing the foot print by removing the surrounding walls.

Details elevate a kitchen design to achieve an extraordinary space, and this kitchen is no exception. The white shaker style cabinetry is offset by a contrasting feature cabinet in a weathered gray finish. This is complemented by the engineered quartz countertop and a large format gray tile backsplash. A custom hood constructed with drywall offers a unique appearance. Glass front cabinets with in-cabinet lighting, angled power strips, and angled corner drawers are among the other details that complete this kitchen design.

This young family has a great house on a great street in a great location. The kitchen was a large space with ample room and great view to the backyard. The dated cabinets and large peninsula layout however were not working for them, so they came in looking for a fresh start. Goals for the project included adding a large island with seating for four and a bright, open and cheerful space for daily meals and entertaining. Our clients also wanted to keep the existing breakfast table, but the original space did not allow for an island and breakfast table. Our solution was to create banquette seating which gave us the extra inches necessary to accomplish both. The larger awning window over the kitchen sink allows for ample light in the new space. The wall between the kitchen and family room was partially removed to provide the more open feeling our clients desired. The work triangle is centered on the island which serves as a big open prep space conveniently located across from the large pro style range. The island also houses the microwave and a 2nd oven for larger gatherings. A new counter depth fridge and beverage center provide options for refrigeration. A simple pallet of white cabinetry, Carrera marble countertops and polished nickel fixtures will be a timeless look and provide a lovely backdrop for entertaining and spending time with family.
