This Master Bathroom remodel removed some framing and drywall above and at the sides of the shower opening to enlarge the shower entry and provide a breathtaking view to the exotic polished porcelain marble tile in a 24 x 48 size used inside. The sliced stone used as vertical accent was hand placed by the tile installer to eliminate the tile outlines sometimes seen in lesser quality installations. The agate design glass tiles used as the backsplash and mirror surround delight the eye. The warm brown griege cabinetry have custom designed drawer interiors to work around the plumbing underneath. Floating vanities add visual space to the room. The dark brown in the herringbone shower floor is repeated in the master bedroom wood flooring coloring so that the entire master suite flows.

Our craftsmen custom built a storage cabinet to recess into the dead space at the end of the shower to maximize storage in the bath. A tiled niche also recesses into the space. This small guest bathroom in a condo on the beach desperately needed a complete overhaul. We took it to the studs. The space was long and narrow and problematic to begin with having only 7 ft ceilings. And, of course the client wanted a rain head! Yikes! To accomodate this need we recessed the rainhead in a ceiling “niche” of sorts and tiled it with the coordinating mosaic glass we used in other niches in the room. The client also requested a tub...and shower..but wanted us to be creative in finding the right one. The Neptune “Wind” tub fit the need perfectly. The challenge was how to hang a shower curtain as well as how to mount a tub filler...we used a kohler laminar spout coming from wall so it looks great as well as functioning just as we needed. The shower curtain dilemma is solved by using an old fashioned 25 dollar clothesline. It stretches out from one end to the other and the curtain hangs on it when needed. Day to day the tub shines as the star! The client also requested a kitty litter box cut into one side of the cabinet so we made the cabinetry look the same from front but on side next to toilet is a small cutout for kitty to enter and exit. The door opens to easily clean the box. The candle niches were cut into the back wall of tile to give some visual texture to the room. The flooring is 12x12 terrazzo tiles that work perfectly off the blue glass 6x12 tile on the back wall. The other walls are limestone. The countertops are blue lagos Ceasarstone. All in all, this bath really packs a powerful punch in a small space!

Our client wanted an updated transitional look with references to the sea. The coastal design for this bathroom began with the selection of the Kohler Derring Wading Pool sink and Finial Faucet. The Robern medicine cabinet mirror was recessed into the wall and surrounded by glass "swishes" in the same blues as the sink. A modern touch we used is the waterfall edge on both the outside and inside edge of the vanity and the outside of the shower bench. The Quartz is by LG in a retired color, Rafine. Sand colored porcelain wood plank flooring was continued from the rest of the home and gives an organic driftwood like feel to the bath. Hudson Valley lighting sconces are mounted onto the glass backsplash for a modern touch.

The lighting, counter stools and soapstone countertops give the room an urban chic, semi-industrial feel but the warmth of the wooden beams and the wood flooring make sure that the space is not cold. A secondary, smaller island was put on wheels in order to have a movable and highly functional prep space.

Complementing the deep blue cabinets, we chose a palette of watery blue accents, including a glass tile vanity wall in a trapezoid pattern that acts as a striking feature in the room. Clean quartz countertops offer low maintenance and allow the tile wall to stand out in its glimmering beauty.

I used decorative tile as an oversized backsplash trimmed out with marble pencil mold trim. Layered on top are sconces and vanity mirrors by Uttermost. The vanity countertop is glass from ThinkGlass with a brushed aluminum underlay. Vessel sinks appear to float on top. This vanity was repurposed from the original piece by The Town Carpenter, LLC. To accommodate the client’s need for easier personal care, we added a fog-free mirror in the shower and built-in a “beauty bar,’” which included an organized makeup drawer, innovative drawer outlets, and pull-out storage for personal hair care tools, hygiene products, accessories, etc.
