A family of four with two young girls and cats needed a brand new master bath to accommodate a family member with MS. They tasked us with creating a luxurious master bath in a modern rustic style that was ADA-accessible and could accommodate the client's walker and wheelchair in the future. Their key issues were that the shower was relatively small, with a curb the client had to step over. They also had a large jacuzzi tub with a tub deck built around it, but the couple never used it. The main bathroom only had one vanity with minimal counter space available, and the dated finishes and materials looked tired - so they were more than ready for a beautiful transformation. To create an ADA-accessible main bath, we relocated the shower to an interior corner, allowing for the addition of a larger ADA-accessible shower with zero entry and a bench the client could easily transfer onto for bathing. The arrangement of this space would also allow for a walker and wheelchair to easily move through the walkways for access to the shower. We moved the toilet to where the shower had been located originally with ADA accessibility features and installed luxurious double vanities along the entire vanity wall, with a modern linen tower cabinet for added storage. Since the client loved the modern rustic aesthetic, we incorporated their chosen style with elements like the Calacatta porcelain tile, cabinet hardware, mason jar lights, and wood-framed mirrors.

To create a larger shower, I relocated the existing vanity, borrowed 24 inches from the adjacent, extra-large master bedroom closet and designed a luxurious compartment that is much more comfortable for my client. We created this beautiful accessible bathroom in Carlsbad to give our client a more functional space. We designed this unique bath, specific to the client's specifications to make it more wheel chair accessible. Features such as the roll in shower, roll up vanity and the ability to use her chair for flexibility over the fixed wall mounted seat allow her to be more independent in this bathroom. Safety was another significant factor for the room. We added support bars in all areas and with maximum flexibility to allow the client to perform all bathing functions independently, and all were positioned after carefully recreating her movements. We met the objectives of functionality and safety without compromising beauty in this aging in place bathroom. Travertine-look porcelain tile was used in a large format on the shower walls to minimize grout lines and maximize ease of maintenance. A crema marfil marble mosaic in an elongated hex pattern was used in the shower room for it’s beauty and flexibility in sloped shower. A custom cabinet was made to the height ideal for our client’s use of the sink and a protective panel placed over the pea trap.

These clients requested a beautiful large walk in shower without glass and thresholds. By removing the tub we were able to accomplish their request in style and beautiful craftsmanship!

This spa-like main bathroom features a seductive and dramatic marble-looking feature wall. The dark wall is softened by contrasting wood-looking plank floors and mosaic pebble tiled floor in the shower. The seven-foot shower has multiple shower heads, including rainfall. There is also a tiled bench and wall niches for convenience. The infinity glass walls feature brass accents that match the luxurious chandelier and plumbing fixtures. This bathroom is a homeowner's dream, designed with a sizeable drop-in jacuzzi for self-care spa nights. A separate toilet room is located just behind the shower, with an adjacent closet for storage. In addition, the double black bathroom vanity with statement hardware ties in the dark feature wall. The frameless mirrors above the vanity reflect light around the room.

Floating Walnut bathroom vanity cabinet with vertical match and hardwood bead detail. Herringbone set floor tile adds a subtle detail to this luxury primary bathroom.

This Master Bathroom remodel removed some framing and drywall above and at the sides of the shower opening to enlarge the shower entry and provide a breathtaking view to the exotic polished porcelain marble tile in a 24 x 48 size used inside. The sliced stone used in the curved floor design was hand placed by the tile installer to eliminate the tile outlines sometimes seen in lesser quality installations. The agate design glass tiles used as the backsplash and mirror surround delight the eye. The warm brown griege cabinetry have custom designed drawer interiors to work around the plumbing underneath. Floating vanities add visual space to the room. The dark brown in the herringbone shower floor is repeated in the master bedroom wood flooring coloring so that the entire master suite flows.

The homeowner selected gorgeous aqua colored subway tiles to highlight the back wall of her curbless shower. The calm, neutral colors on the walls and floor assist in making the aqua tiles the star of the show!
