This 1902 San Antonio home was beautiful both inside and out, except for the kitchen, which was dark and dated. The original kitchen layout consisted of a breakfast room and a small kitchen separated by a wall. There was also a very small screened in porch off of the kitchen. The homeowners dreamed of a light and bright new kitchen and that would accommodate a 48" gas range, built in refrigerator, an island and a walk in pantry. At first, it seemed almost impossible, but with a little imagination, we were able to give them every item on their wish list. We took down the wall separating the breakfast and kitchen areas, recessed the new Subzero refrigerator under the stairs, and turned the tiny screened porch into a walk in pantry with a gorgeous blue and white tile floor. The french doors in the breakfast area were replaced with a single transom door to mirror the door to the pantry. The new transoms make quite a statement on either side of the 48" Wolf range set against a marble tile wall. A lovely banquette area was created where the old breakfast table once was and is now graced by a lovely beaded chandelier. Pillows in shades of blue and white and a custom walnut table complete the cozy nook. The soapstone island with a walnut butcher block seating area adds warmth and character to the space. The navy barstools with chrome nailhead trim echo the design of the transoms and repeat the navy and chrome detailing on the custom range hood. A 42" Shaws farmhouse sink completes the kitchen work triangle. Off of the kitchen, the small hallway to the dining room got a facelift, as well. We added a decorative china cabinet and mirrored doors to the homeowner's storage closet to provide light and character to the passageway. After the project was completed, the homeowners told us that "this kitchen was the one that our historic house was always meant to have." There is no greater reward for what we do than that.

Avid cooks and entertainers purchased this 1925 Tudor home that had only been partially renovated in the 80's. Cooking is a very important part of this hobby chef's life and so we really had to make the best use of space and storage in this kitchen. Modernizing while achieving maximum functionality, and opening up to the family room were all on the "must" list, and a custom banquette and large island helps for parties and large entertaining gatherings. Cabinets are from Cabico, their Elmwood series in both white paint, and walnut in a natural stained finish. Stainless steel counters wrap the perimeter, while Caesarstone quartz is used on the island. The seated part of the island is walnut to match the cabinetry. The backsplash is a mosaic from Marble Systems. The shelving unit on the wall is custom built to utilize the small wall space and get additional open storage for everyday items. A 3 foot Galley sink is the main focus of the island, and acts as a workhorse prep and cooking space. This is aired with a faucet from Waterstone, with a matching at the prep sink on the exterior wall and a potfiller over the Dacor Range. Built-in Subzero Refrigerator and Freezer columns provide plenty of fresh food storage options. In the prep area along the exterior wall, a built in ice maker, microwave drawer, warming drawer, and additional/secondary dishwasher drawer helps the second cook during larger party prep.

The brief given to our designer for their new kitchen was to form a space that kept the heritage feel of their home whilst adding a bit of character through the incorporation of classical and modern elements. Whilst keeping to the original footprint, the first design change in the kitchen was to move the current location of the sink to the island return to create a better flow to the space. Their new kitchen consists of a beautiful natural stone that wraps around the entire Kitchen, splashback and upstand, a stunning tall wall section of black cabinetry to house their ovens, a built – in pantry and an area for their coffee maker, thus creating a space that the whole family can work in whilst offering the practicality of everyday use.

Inside this 1800s carriage house in Gresham, Oregon, an elegant, newly remodeled kitchen gleams. The U-shaped surround has stately white cabinets with knurled brass hardware and both white quartz and walnut butcher block counter tops. Upper cabinets combine recessed-panel, glass-panel and open shelving.

White inset cabinets were used in this compact kitchen and paired with imperial danby honed marble countertops. Appliances include a 24" wolf steam oven, a 36" dual fuel wolf range, a 24" paneled refrigerator, a paneled dishwasher that looks like 3 drawers.

After a first-floor renovation of a home for a couple with four grown children, the new kitchen features high-tech appliances purchased through Royal Green and a custom island with a connected table to seat family, friends, and cooking spectators. An old dining room was eliminated, and the whole area was transformed into one open, L-shaped space with a bar and family room. “They wanted to expand the kitchen and have more of an entertaining room for their family gatherings,” says designer Danielle Florie. She designed the kitchen so that two or three people can work at the same time, with a full sink in the island that’s big enough for cleaning vegetables or washing pots and pans. Key Features: Well-Stocked Bar: The bar area adjacent to the kitchen doubles as a coffee center. Topped with a leathered brown marble, the bar houses the coffee maker as well as a wine refrigerator, beverage fridge, and built-in ice maker. Upholstered swivel chairs encourage people to gather and stay awhile. Finishing Touches: Counters around the kitchen and the island are covered with a Cambria quartz that has the light, airy look the homeowners wanted and resists stains and scratches. The Cabinetry is all painted in a soft blue/grey (Sherwin Williams Mineral Deposit 7652 ) and the walls are painted in (Sherwin Williams Frosty White 6196) The island was custom made to function for them. They requested lots of storage so we designed storage in the front of the island as well and the left side was open shelved for cookbooks. Counters are quartz from LG. I love using Quartz for a more durable option keeping it family-friendly. We opted for a nice stone mosaic from Daltile – Sublimity Namaste.

The kitchen was expanded in this 1930's home to be more functional for a 21st century growing family. It was important to our client to maintain the charm and the architectural authenticity she loved growing up as a child. One of the more challenging features was rebuilding the beautiful lead glass windows so they would be both historically accurate as well as functional for today's climate extremes. Another challenge was recreating the black and white tile floor. Each tile was custom cut to achieve the desired look. A custom made built-in bench and cushion were made for the breakfast nook, complete with storage drawers beneath.
