This family room is designed to encourage relaxation, conversation and comfort while also being beautiful. The large square cocktail ottoman is covered in a durable, Duralee chenille woven fabric, providing drama and cheer. The Vanguard sectional is covered in a durable, soft, chenille fabric and invites guests to sit down and relax. This 2-story home with first-floor owner’s suite includes a 3-car garage and an inviting front porch. A dramatic 2-story ceiling welcomes you into the foyer where hardwood flooring extends throughout the main living areas of the home including the dining room, great room, kitchen, and breakfast area. The foyer is flanked by the study to the right and the formal dining room with stylish coffered ceiling and craftsman style wainscoting to the left. The spacious great room with 2-story ceiling includes a cozy gas fireplace with custom tile surround. Adjacent to the great room is the kitchen and breakfast area. The kitchen is well-appointed with Cambria quartz countertops with tile backsplash, attractive cabinetry and a large pantry. The sunny breakfast area provides access to the patio and backyard. The owner’s suite with includes a private bathroom with 6’ tile shower with a fiberglass base, free standing tub, and an expansive closet. The 2nd floor includes a loft, 2 additional bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms.

The clients bought a new construction house in Bay Head, NJ with an architectural style that was very traditional and quite formal, not beachy. For our design process I created the story that the house was owned by a successful ship captain who had traveled the world and brought back furniture and artifacts for his home. The furniture choices were mainly based on English style pieces and then we incorporated a lot of accessories from Asia and Africa. The only nod we really made to “beachy” style was to do some art with beach scenes and/or bathing beauties (original painting in the study) (vintage series of black and white photos of 1940’s bathing scenes, not shown) ,the pillow fabric in the family room has pictures of fish on it , the wallpaper in the study is actually sand dollars and we did a seagull wallpaper in the downstairs bath (not shown).
