Perched high above the Islington Golf course, on a quiet cul-de-sac, this contemporary residential home is all about bringing the outdoor surroundings in. In keeping with the French style, a metal and slate mansard roofline dominates the façade, while inside, an open concept main floor split across three elevations, is punctuated by reclaimed rough hewn fir beams and a herringbone dark walnut floor. The elegant kitchen includes Calacatta marble countertops, Wolf range, SubZero glass paned refrigerator, open walnut shelving, blue/black cabinetry with hand forged bronze hardware and a larder with a SubZero freezer, wine fridge and even a dog bed. The emphasis on wood detailing continues with Pella fir windows framing a full view of the canopy of trees that hang over the golf course and back of the house. This project included a full reimagining of the backyard landscaping and features the use of Thermory decking and a refurbished in-ground pool surrounded by dark Eramosa limestone. Design elements include the use of three species of wood, warm metals, various marbles, bespoke lighting fixtures and Canadian art as a focal point within each space. The main walnut waterfall staircase features a custom hand forged metal railing with tuning fork spindles. The end result is a nod to the elegance of French Country, mixed with the modern day requirements of a family of four and two dogs!

The catering kitchen was completely transformed by removing the 'mudroom' area to create room for a large prep, storage, and cooking areas. The new space is hosts a custom Cremone-bolted dish cabinet, wine cooler, and double panel fridge /freezer. It has a large farmhouse sink and plenty of storage for prepping for large catering events and parties.

The most elegant, cozy, quaint, french country kitchen in the heart of Roland Park. Simple shaker-style white cabinets decorated with a mix of lacquer gold latches, knobs, and ring pulls. Custom french-cafe-inspired hood with an accent of calacattta marble 3x6 subway tile. A center piece of the white Nostalgie Series 36 Inch Freestanding Dual Fuel Range with Natural Gas and 5 Sealed Brass Burners to pull all the gold accents together. Small custom-built island wrapped with bead board and topped with a honed Calacatta Vagli marble with ogee edges. The calming beiges and cream tones of the backsplash and primary cabinetry pair with the stunning blue/green granite countertop of the entertainment island for bold statement.

Bei dieser Küche gelten die selben Grundsätze wie in der Werkstatt: Stauraum für sein Werkzeug, kurze Laufwege, Platz zum Arbeiten und zu guter letzt ist natürlich eine sinnvolle Anordnung der Geräte sehr wichtig. So macht es zum Beispiel Sinn den Geschirrspüler neben die Spüle zu setzen, zum einen wegen der Anschlüsse, zum andern aber auch um dreckiges Geschirr direkt aus der Spüle in den Geschirrspüler einräumen zu können. Auf Hängeschränke wurde verzichtet, dafür planten wir einen bereits vorhandenen Buffetschrank mit ein. Dadurch bleibt der Raum optisch größer ohne Einbußen machen zu müßen.
