Photos by Wing Wong @MemoriesTTL My clients in New Jersey contacted me last year to renovate one bathroom which led to many new projects, including updating their living room. (The bathroom will be published next summer, so I cannot show you it,but I will share with you the living room update. My focus is creating rooms that are beautiful yet extremely functional for my clients. In this case, they are in their prime of life, and their home needed to change along with them. I put in lots of "Aging in Place" or what I like to say, "Home for Life" design ideas. I added grab bars in the shower, increased the lighting in all the rooms,made doorways wider, and I banished the green carpet from the living room to make way for hardwood floors in case one of my clients becomes non ambulatory. So when it came to updating their living room, I asked what direction they want to go in and they said to me, "We lived through mid century modern and now it's back!" They actually have Wishbone chairs from Hans Wenger in the dining room and an original Eames chair, so adding more Mid century modern pieces was a no brainer. These are LC3 Modele Armchairs

A challenging room to decorate; this long narrow lounge had been foreshortened by a dark sofa part way along, which wasted space at one end. The brief was to make the room feel brighter, more welcoming, inclusive and open so as to enjoy the view into the garden. The owners also wished to retain their curtains and have a slight wow input. ​ To brighten the room Farrow and Ball Slipper Satin was applied to the walls and ceiling, the coving and rose work was picked out in white and a lighter 4 seater sofa plus reclining chair was sourced from Sofology. It was decided to upgrade a green leather stressless chair by having it professionally stained a burnt orange by the Furniture clinic and this upcycling was a huge success. ​ A bespoke chandelier was designed with the client then commissioned from Cotterell and Rocke and gold wall lights cast gentle shadows over surfaces. The wow element was incorporated via new coving with hidden coloured lighting which would shine across the ceiling. A very soft orange offsets the furniture, but this can be changed by remote control to any colour of the rainbow according to mood. ​ Some small inherited pieces of furniture were upgraded with Annie Sloane paint and the furniture placed so as to create a peaceful reading area facing the garden, where the stressless chair could be turned to join the main body of the room if necessary. A glass coffee table was used to make the room feel more open and soft burnt orange accent tones were picked up from the curtains to add depth and interest.

Côté salon TV, l'ambiance est tout autre. Les propriétaires désiraient une ambiance chic et chaleureuse, un cocon de repos pour des soirées télé en famille. Bleu le maître de cette pièce agrémenté de ce papier peint texturé et de quelques touches de cannage, nous transporte dans un nid douillet. Pour rehausser l'ensemble, j'ai adoré ce canapé en velours moutarde, confortable et tellement chic. LA touche finale, de beaux luminaires, un de créateur et d'autres chinés.
