Soft linen white family room with handknotted rug, white sofas and glass table. A clean, contemporary white palette in this traditional Spanish Style home in Santa Barbara, California. Soft greys, beige, cream colored fabrics, hand knotted rugs and quiet light walls show off the beautiful thick arches between the living room and dining room. Stained wood beams, wrought iron lighting, and carved limestone fireplaces give a soft, comfortable feel for this summer home by the Pacific Ocean. White linen drapes with grass shades give warmth and texture to the great room. The kitchen features glass and white marble mosaic backsplash, white slabs of natural quartzite, and a built in banquet nook. The oak cabinets are lightened by a white wash over the stained wood, and medium brown wood plank flooring througout the home. Project Location: Santa Barbara, California. We transformed this room from an outdated southwest style space to this elegant Spanish style living room. The fireplace was redesigned and an arched passage to the dining was added to better define the spaces. The balance of materials that help create this space are the old world terra cotta tiles, smooth plaster walls, hand carved stone fireplace and rough wood stained ceiling. This room now feels so luxurious but yet still inviting enough to curl up on the sofa. The sofa and chairs were both great resale finds that were restored and reupholstered. The rug is an antique oushak that was found for a huge savings off its true value; truly stunning in person. The Italian floor lamp and pair alabaster lamps were a magical find in San Diego through one of my most favorite Antique stores' all they needed was new shades and wiring. We designed the iron sconces and FP screen and had them custom made. The original painting above the FP is called "September Moon" painted by listed artist Jordan Pope of Montecito; shes amazing! Everything in this room is "vintage" for the exception of the little round gold table between the chairs. It all makes for a well collected luxurious room. Old world Spanish Villa with deep, thick plaster walls and groin vaults. Arches are plentiful, along with views of the Thousand Oaks and Westlake valley. This comfortable home is designed for a wonderful, fun family with two children. The place of many gatherings of friends and family, it radiates a warmth and love of good times with great friends. Deep rich blues, aqua and terra cotta colors throughout this home, with travertine versaille patterned floors. Deep loggia and patios all around the home take advantage of all the mountain and valley views, while keeping the family and friends warm in cooler times. The entire sprawling villa is wrapped around an inside patio with a fountain and hand made Malibu Tile pots. All furniture is hand made, from distressed and rustic tables to custom upholstery in jewel tones. A built in bar for entertaining in the great room, a very large family room with deep blue fabric wrap around sofa, hand knotted rugs in the living room, master bedroom and family room. A master suite with light creamy white walls, a plaster fireplace and a metal poster bed looks through a sitting room with turquoise accents. The home has 6 fireplaces, of which three are outside, some carved in limestone, others in spanish plaster. Designed by Maraya Interior Design. This Great Room debuts as one of the only known applications of stacked glass in a residence in the U.S. Instead of using steel as the structural support for the large glass wall in the Great Room, stacked glass is used, similar to a skyscraper in a downtown metroplex. Since glass has a higher tensile strength than concrete, it is certainly capable of carrying the load and withstanding the wind shears off the lake. Moreover, it frames the amazing view of the lake like no other. The automated cabinet over the fireplace opens to reveal the TV when a button on the phone is pushed.

We removed the living room ceiling to create a 2-story space, added windows and also opened it up to an adjoining space that was previously an office. We added new arched windows on each side of the existing fireplace.
