Removal of the walls that separated a once tiny kitchen from the dining room was like that feeling of relief when you unbutton those far too tight pants at the end of the day. It opened up the core of the house, let the daylight flood in, and provided a desired social connection between the cooking, dining, and entertaining experience, plus views to the front yard. One step towards achieving historic status to even apply for the MILS act - all the windows were replaced and returned back to their wood frame glory, and a previously modified window was returned back to it's orginal glass door and window configuration with direct access to the front porch. Existing harwood floors were patched and refinished, structural beams and footings were added as required, and all well worth the effort. The coveted island/ "command station" features a natural quartzite countertop, farmhouse sink, beautiful hand-painted tile, and uber comfortable counter height stools - perfectly proportioned to where the seat back will never get dinged up against the stone top and can tuck completely under the countertop when not in use. Tall, flanking pantries are convenient for everyday items, and deep lower drawers house all the necessities a home chef wants within arms reach.

This gorgeous home renovation was a fun project to work on. The goal for the whole-house remodel was to infuse the home with a fresh new perspective while hinting at the traditional Mediterranean flare. We also wanted to balance the new and the old and help feature the customer’s existing character pieces. Let's begin with the custom front door, which is made with heavy distressing and a custom stain, along with glass and wrought iron hardware. The exterior sconces, dark light compliant, are rubbed bronze Hinkley with clear seedy glass and etched opal interior. Moving on to the dining room, porcelain tile made to look like wood was installed throughout the main level. The dining room floor features a herringbone pattern inlay to define the space and add a custom touch. A reclaimed wood beam with a custom stain and oil-rubbed bronze chandelier creates a cozy and warm atmosphere. In the kitchen, a hammered copper hood and matching undermount sink are the stars of the show. The tile backsplash is hand-painted and customized with a rustic texture, adding to the charm and character of this beautiful kitchen. The powder room features a copper and steel vanity and a matching hammered copper framed mirror. A porcelain tile backsplash adds texture and uniqueness. Lastly, a brick-backed hanging gas fireplace with a custom reclaimed wood mantle is the perfect finishing touch to this spectacular whole house remodel. It is a stunning transformation that truly showcases the artistry of our design and construction teams. Project by Douglah Designs. If you look closely you will notice this refrigerator is in two different parts, as well as the kitchen's double ovens, double islands, pendant lighting, and cream kitchen cabinets.

This newly remodeled family home and in law unit in San Anselmo is 4000sf of light and space. The first designer was let go for presenting grey one too many times. My task was to skillfully blend all the color my clients wanted from their mix of Latin, Hispanic and Italian heritage and get it to read successfully. Wow, no easy feat. Clients alway teach us so much. I learned that much more color could work than I ever thought possible.

This was the best angle I could get showing thru the kitchen, thru the dining room into the living room. The kitchen is adorned in solid cherry cabinets with Blum hinges for full access. The floor is traditional saltillos to mesh with the exterior theme. The Wolf stove is surrounded in granite and the Sub Zero gives plenty of space for food during parties. The dining room is round with a profile of an upside down champange glass. Certainly on of the funnest projects I have built. MFW

Our fresh take on Mediterranean design for Vicki Gunvalson of the Real Houseives of Orange County included a brand new kitchen remodel with Moroccan influences in a creamy white, worn grey and gilded gold color palette. The matte Spanish white walls are adorned with natural unglazed clay tile from Morocco, the lantern light fixtures with carved wood tassel embellishments are custom, the appliance package includes Thermador, Miele and subzero, upholstered bar stools push up to the custom carved wood island with calacatta marble, succulents were arranged in antique wood dough bowls and all cream white dishes and worn wood accessories were used to soften the ambiance.
