This tiny home is located on a treelined street in the Kitsilano neighborhood of Vancouver. We helped our client create a living and dining space with a beach vibe in this small front room that comfortably accommodates their growing family of four. The starting point for the decor was the client's treasured antique chaise (positioned under the large window) and the scheme grew from there. We employed a few important space saving techniques in this room... One is building seating into a corner that doubles as storage, the other is tucking a footstool, which can double as an extra seat, under the custom wood coffee table. The TV is carefully concealed in the custom millwork above the fireplace. Finally, we personalized this space by designing a family gallery wall that combines family photos and shadow boxes of treasured keepsakes. A full renovation and modernisation of this one Bedroom, grade II listed apartment on the first floor of a Georgian terrace building in Marylebone.
We oversaw and managed the whole renovation from securing approval from English Heritage and Council to managing the license to alter for this extensive refurbishment. The apartment was reconfigured from a large Studio to a one Bedroom and was modernised throughout as an investment property for the rental market.
We maximised storage through extensive joinery designed taking in to consideration the high ceilings of the property, achieving a sense of comfort, spaciousness and luxury. The bathroom with large walk-in wet room and the floor to ceiling sash windows are the main features of the property.

Duck Crossing is a mini compound built over time for our family in Palmetto Bluff, Bluffton, SC. We began with the small one story guest cottage, added the carriage house for our daughters and then, as we determined we needed one gathering space for friends and family, the main house. The challenge was to build a light and bright home that would take full advantage of the lake and preserve views and have enough room for everyone to congregate.
We decided to build an upside down/reverse floorplan home, where the main living areas are on the 2nd floor. We built one great room, encompassing kitchen, dining, living, deck and design studio - added tons of windows and an open staircase, vaulted the ceilings, painted everything white and did whatever else we could to make the small space feel open and welcoming - we think we accomplished this, and then some. The kitchen appliances are behind doors, the island is great for serving and gathering, the tv is hidden - all attention is to the view. When everyone needs their separate space, there are 2 bedrooms below and then additional sleeping, bathing and eating spaces in the cottage and carriage house - it is all just perfect!

By creating a division between creamy paneled walls below 9' and pale blue walls above 9', human scale is created while still enjoying the spacious open area above. All the volume with south facing windows creates a beautiful play of light throughout the day.

The owners craved an orderly home so we achieved that with a symmetrical layout. The closed built in houses a hook up for a television should they ever want one. The room is meant to be flexible for entertaining with elements like the ottomans on either side of the coffee table and small easy-to-move tables at the ends of the sofas.
