Three apartments were combined to create this 7 room home in Manhattan's West Village for a young couple and their three small girls. A kids' wing boasts a colorful playroom, a butterfly-themed bedroom, and a bath. The parents' wing includes a home office for two (which also doubles as a guest room), two walk-in closets, a master bedroom & bath. A family room leads to a gracious living/dining room for formal entertaining. A large eat-in kitchen and laundry room complete the space. The compact and functional ground floor utility room and WC has been positioned where the original staircase used to be in the centre of the house. We kept to a paired down utilitarian style and palette when designing this practical space. A run of bespoke birch plywood full height cupboards for coats and shoes and a laundry cupboard with a stacked washing machine and tumble dryer. Tucked at the end is an enamel bucket sink and lots of open shelving storage. A simple white grid of tiles and the natural finish cork flooring which runs through out the house.

This laundry room design features custom cabinetry and storage to accommodate a family of 6. Storage includes built-in, pull-out hampers, built-in drying clothes racks that slide back out of view when full or not in use. Built-in storage for chargeable appliances and power for a clothes iron with pull-out ironing board.

Renovations made this house bright, open, and modern. In addition to installing white oak flooring, we opened up and brightened the living space by removing a wall between the kitchen and family room and added large windows to the kitchen. In the family room, we custom made the built-ins with a clean design and ample storage. In the family room, we custom-made the built-ins. This was almost a total gut accept for the cabinets. The floor was taken out and replaced by beautiful black hexagon tile to give it a more modern French Country design and the client loved the black and white traditional Farmhouse backsplash. The utility sink need to fit the space so we decided to go with the industrial stainless steel. Open cage lighting makes the room very bright due to not having any windows.
