APD was hired to update the primary bathroom and laundry room of this ranch style family home. Included was a request to add a powder bathroom where one previously did not exist to help ease the chaos for the young family. The design team took a little space here and a little space there, coming up with a reconfigured layout including an enlarged primary bathroom with large walk-in shower, a jewel box powder bath, and a refreshed laundry room including a dog bath for the family’s four legged member!

Cozy Laundry Room with Stacked Washer Dryer is the perfect space to hang and fold laundry, with it's own pull-out laundry basket at the folding station you can grab this weeks laundry and toss it in.

A large laundry room that is combined with a craft space designed to inspire young minds and to make laundry time fun with the vibrant teal glass tiles. Lots of counterspace for sorting and folding laundry and a deep sink that is great for hand washing. Ample cabinet space for all the laundry supplies and for all of the arts and craft supplies. On the floor is a wood looking porcelain tile that is used throughout most of the home.

Giving all other items in the laundry area a designated home left this homeowner a great place to fold laundry. Don't you love the folding tray that came with their washer and dryer? Room Redefined decluttered the space, and did a lot of space planning to make sure it had good flow for all of the functions. Intentional use of organization products, including shelf-dividers, shelf-labels, colorful bins, wall organization to take advantage of vertical space, and cubby storage maximize functionality. We supported the process through removal of unwanted items, product sourcing and installation. We continue to work with this family to maintain the space as their needs change over time. Clients had a large wasted space area upstairs and wanted to better utilize the area. They decided to add a large laundry area that provided tons of storage and workspace to properly do laundry. This family of 5 has deeply benefited from creating this more functional beautiful laundry space.

Our client wanted a finished laundry room. We choose blue cabinets with a ceramic farmhouse sink, gold accessories, and a pattern back wall. The result is an eclectic space with lots of texture and pattern.

We planned a thoughtful redesign of this beautiful home while retaining many of the existing features. We wanted this house to feel the immediacy of its environment. So we carried the exterior front entry style into the interiors, too, as a way to bring the beautiful outdoors in. In addition, we added patios to all the bedrooms to make them feel much bigger. Luckily for us, our temperate California climate makes it possible for the patios to be used consistently throughout the year. The original kitchen design did not have exposed beams, but we decided to replicate the motif of the 30" living room beams in the kitchen as well, making it one of our favorite details of the house. To make the kitchen more functional, we added a second island allowing us to separate kitchen tasks. The sink island works as a food prep area, and the bar island is for mail, crafts, and quick snacks. We designed the primary bedroom as a relaxation sanctuary – something we highly recommend to all parents. It features some of our favorite things: a cognac leather reading chair next to a fireplace, Scottish plaid fabrics, a vegetable dye rug, art from our favorite cities, and goofy portraits of the kids. --- Project designed by Courtney Thomas Design in La Cañada.
