This gem of a home was designed by homeowner/architect Eric Vollmer. It is nestled in a traditional neighborhood with a deep yard and views to the east and west. Strategic window placement captures light and frames views while providing privacy from the next door neighbors. The second floor maximizes the volumes created by the roofline in vaulted spaces and loft areas. Four skylights illuminate the ‘Nordic Modern’ finishes and bring daylight deep into the house and the stairwell with interior openings that frame connections between the spaces. The skylights are also operable with remote controls and blinds to control heat, light and air supply. Unique details abound! Metal details in the railings and door jambs, a paneled door flush in a paneled wall, flared openings. Floating shelves and flush transitions. The main bathroom has a ‘wet room’ with the tub tucked under a skylight enclosed with the shower. This is a Structural Insulated Panel home with closed cell foam insulation in the roof cavity. The on-demand water heater does double duty providing hot water as well as heat to the home via a high velocity duct and HRV system.

Un ufficio, moderno, lineare e neutro viene riconvertito in abitazione e reso accogliente attraverso un gioco di colori, rivestimenti e decor. La sua particolare conformazione, costituita da uno stretto corridoio, è stata lo stimolo alla progettazione che si è trasformato da limite in opportunità. Lo spazio si presenta trasformato e ripartito, illuminato da grandi finestre a nastro che riempiono l’ambiente di luce naturale. L’intervento è consistito quindi nella valorizzazione degli ambienti esistenti, monocromatici e lineari che, grazie ai giochi volumetrici già presenti, si prestavano adeguatamente ad un gioco cromatico e decorativo. I colori scelti hanno delineato gli ambienti e ne hanno aumentato lo spazio . Il verde del living, nelle due tonalità, esprime rigenerazione e rinascita, portandoci a respirare più profondamente e trasmettendo fiducia e sicurezza. Favorisce l’abbassamento della pressione sanguigna stimolando l’ipofisi: l’ideale per la zona giorno! La palette cromatica comprende anche bianco che fa da tela neutra, aiutando ad alleggerire l’ambiente conferendo equilibrio e serenità. La cucina è il cuore della casa, racchiusa in un “cubo” cromatico che infonde apertura e socialità, generando un ambiente dinamico e multifunzionale. Diventa il luogo per accogliere e condividere, accompagnati dal rosso mattone, colore che aumenta l’energia e stimola l’appetito

Our creative design solution started with carefully planning the practical storage capacity of every cabinet and how they would be used in the work flow of the kitchen. Our design team skillfully customized the many storage solutions developed by Dura Supreme Cabinetry to maximize the chef’s functional use of her space. The kitchen backsplash features Gris Claro Soho Masia 3”x12” tile in a stunning herringbone pattern above the range, and otherwise in rows of tiles laid horizontally at a 50-percent offset, meaning that each tile joint aligns with the center of the tile above and below it.

Clean and crisp lines combined with a centrally located island/work station invite you and your guests to gather and create a simple or elegant meal together in this modern kitchen.

This Historical Home was built in the Columbia Country Club in 1925 and was ready for a new, modern kitchen which kept the traditional feel of the home. A previous sunroom addition created a dining room, but the original kitchen layout kept the two rooms divided. The kitchen was a small and cramped c-shape with a narrow door leading into the dining area. The kitchen and dining room were completely opened up, creating a long, galley style, open layout which maximized the space and created a very good flow. Dimensions In Wood worked in conjuction with the client’s architect and contractor to complete this renovation. Custom cabinets were built to use every square inch of the floorplan, with the cabinets extending all the way to the ceiling for the most storage possible. Our woodworkers even created a step stool, staining it to match the kitchen for reaching these high cabinets. The family already had a kitchen table and chairs they were happy with, so we refurbished them to match the kitchen’s new stain and paint color. Crown molding top the cabinet boxes and extends across the ceiling where they create a coffered ceiling, highlighting the beautiful light fixtures centered on a wood medallion. Columns were custom built to provide separation between the different sections of the kitchen, while also providing structural support. Our master craftsmen kept the original 1925 glass cabinet doors, fitted them with modern hardware, repainted and incorporated them into new cabinet boxes. TASK LED Lighting was added to this china cabinet, highlighting the family’s decorative dishes. Appliance Garage On one side of the kitchen we built an appliance garage with doors that slide back into the cabinet, integrated power outlets and door activated lighting. Beside this is a small Galley Workstation for beverage and bar service which has the Galley Bar Kit perfect for sliced limes and more. Baking Cabinet with Pocket Doors On the opposite side, a baking cabinet was built to house a mixer and all the supplies needed for creating confections. Automatic LED lights, triggered by opening the door, create a perfect baker’s workstation. Both pocket doors slide back inside the cabinet for maximum workspace, then close to hide everything, leaving a clean, minimal kitchen devoid of clutter. Super deep, custom drawers feature custom dividers beneath the baking cabinet. Then beneath the appliance garage another deep drawer has custom crafted produce boxes per the customer’s request. Central to the kitchen is a walnut accent island with a granite countertop and a Stainless Steel Galley Workstation and an overhang for seating. Matching bar stools slide out of the way, under the overhang, when not in use. A color matched outlet cover hides power for the island whenever appliances are needed during preparation. The Galley Workstation has several useful attachments like a cutting board, drying rack, colander holder, and more. Integrated into the stone countertops are a drinking water spigot, a soap dispenser, garbage disposal button and the pull out, sprayer integrated faucet. Directly across from the conveniently positioned stainless steel sink is a Bertazzoni Italia stove with 5 burner cooktop. A custom mosaic tile backsplash makes a beautiful focal point. Then, on opposite sides of the stove, columns conceal Rev-a-Shelf pull out towers which are great for storing small items, spices, and more. All outlets on the stone covered walls also sport dual USB outlets for charging mobile devices. Stainless Steel Whirlpool appliances throughout keep a consistent and clean look. The oven has a matching microwave above it which also works as a convection oven. Dual Whirlpool dishwashers can handle all the family’s dirty dishes. The flooring has black, marble tile inlays surrounded by ceramic tile, which are period correct for the age of this home, while still being modern, durable and easy to clean. Finally, just off the kitchen we also remodeled their bar and snack alcove. A small liquor cabinet, with a refrigerator and wine fridge sits opposite a snack bar and wine glass cabinets. Crown molding, granite countertops and cabinets were all customized to match this space with the rest of the stunning kitchen. Dimensions In Wood is more than 40 years of custom cabinets. L’appartement se situe au Rez-de-chaussée d’un petit immeuble des années 30. Ce Souplex a la particularité d’être traversant et entouré par deux cours privatives. L’objectif de la rénovation est de transformer l’aménagement des espaces pour optimiser les usages. La cuisine est déplacée afin de devenir une pièce de vie centrale, qui profite pleinement de la lumière du sud-est. Le séjour est prévu comme un grand espace modulable dans le prolongement de la cuisine, qui peut accueillir une chambre avec une cloison légère ou un claustra. Un important travail de menuiserie permet d’optimiser au maximum les rangements. La cloison de l’entrée est remplacée par le meuble de cuisine qui allie plusieurs fonctions nouvelles : une séparation partielle grâce aux étagères et des rangements optimisés de chaque côté. L’escalier a été entièrement repensé pour deux raisons : être plus confortable et prolonger le dressing. La continuité de l’espace au rez-de-chaussée est garantie par le lien entre le vaisselier et la bibliothèque. Le parquet de l’ancienne chambre a été déposé puis re-installé à l’emplacement précèdent de la cuisine dans la continuité du salon. L’échelle du carrelage dynamise la cuisine et permet une réflexion variée de la lumière. La palette de couleur choisie est simple pour privilégier le bois.Le bois clair utilisé pour les meubles sur-mesure accentue cette volonté d’éclaircir et de préserver l’homogénéité des espaces . Rien ne fait obstacle aux rayons du soleil.

Ce projet est un bel exemple de la tendance « nature » repérée au salon Maison & Objet 2020. Ainsi on y retrouve des palettes de couleurs nudes : beige, crème et sable. Autre palette nature, les verts tendres de la salle de bain. Les nuances de vert lichen, d’eau et de sauge viennent ainsi donner de la profondeur et de la douceur à la cabine de douche. Les matériaux bruts sont également au rendez-vous pour accentuer le côté « green » du projet. Le bois sous toutes ses teintes, le terrazzo aux éclats caramels au sol ou encore les fibres tissées au niveau des luminaires. Tous ces éléments font du projet Malte un intérieur zen, une véritable invitation à la détente.
