L’appartamento, di 110 mq, posto all’ultimo piano di un edificio residenziale a Portici, gode di una vista diretta su una delle cupole più antiche della città metropolitana di Napoli, quella della Basilica di San Ciro. E’ proprio questo legame tra l’interno e la veduta esterna che fa si che la maestosa cupola diventi quasi parte dell’arredo. Le esigenze della Committenza richiedevano un progetto moderno, comodo e confortevole, dove l’intera Famiglia potesse rilassarsi e riunirsi al rientro da lavoro. L’ingresso dà sull’ampia zona living, ampia e luminosa, completamente separata dalla zona notte e caratterizzata dalla presenza di arredi in legno progettati e realizzati su misura. Da qui si accede alla cucina mediante un’ampia porta scorrevole in vetro e legno, che consente allo spazio la massima flessibilità, e al bagno per gli ospiti mediante un disimpegno dove armadiature realizzate su misura danno allo spazio il massimo della funzionalità.

This kitchen is a wheelchair accessible kitchen designed by Adam Thomas of Design Matters. With height-adjustable worktops, acrylic doors and brushed steel handles for comfortable use with impaired grip. The two Corian worktops are fully height adjustable and have raised edges on all four sides to contain hot spills and reduce the risk of injury. A single Neff oven with slideaway door, and a combination microwave oven have been specified for this kitchen. Each oven is teamed with a slimline pullout shelf that is faced with stainless steel to make it heat-resistant. This means hot items can be transferred between the hob and the oven safely, while the client's lap is completely covered and protected from hot spills. Photographs by Jonathan Smithies Photography. Overview Slick, rear facing extension with internal space planning throughout the ground floor enhancing existing and creating new spaces The Brief Transform a mid-terrace Edwardian home into a light, inspiring and practical family space with neat lines and simple elevations to complement a family garden space. Using as much glass as possible to the rear and incorporating new contemporary kitchen and back of house spaces we transformed the house from a dark and celular series of spaces to a WOW factor, flexible home. Our Solution We started by removing the elements that didnt work for the family, taking out walls and the rear ground floor elevation. We then looked to support the walls above with a new steel superstructure keeping the new space open plan. We wanted the route from the entrance lobby, where friends and relatives congregate, to the rear family space to be open and light with an obvious route to the new space. The back of house space (utility, laundry and WC/storage) was positioned in the centre of the plan leaving us to develop an open plan space with light flooding in. We opted for a simple and crisp aesthetic with light colours and materials and excellent finishing by the build team. The client has furnished the space to a high standard giving this house a brilliant look and feel that has enhanced the value and created a flexible space the family can live in for years to come.

This kitchen was designed utilizing the length and height of the space. While maintaining a truly functional working area. The emphases on a family kitchen as well as an entertainment area were achieved by keeping the functional components of the kitchen on one side while being able to socialize at an arms-length on the other. No one was to be made to feel left-out, with the island that eventual becomes a projected table to the workstation. Stainless steel was chosen to emphasize the gorgeousness and caliber of the appliances. Custom walnut cabinets accompanied by large format porcelain tile, and quartz counter-tops tie the space together. Hardware placement again reinforces clean lines of the kitchen.
