The owners of a local historic Victorian home needed a kitchen that would not only meet the everyday needs of their family but also function well for large catered events. We designed the kitchen to fit with the historic architecture -- using period specific materials such as dark cherry wood, Carrera marble counters, and hexagonal mosaic floor tile. (Not to mention the unique light fixtures and custom decor throughout the home.) Just off the kitchen to the right is a butler's pantry -- storage for all the entertaining table & glassware as well as a perfect staging area. We used Wood-Mode cabinets in the Beacon Hill doorstyle -- Burgundy finish on cherry; integral raised end panels and lavish Victorian style trim are essential to the kitchen's appeal.

Because of the 2 windows and a door, we couldn’t put cabinets there without it looking weird. The homeowners needed storage but didn’t want to lose light, so we came up with this open shelving plan. Also, adding historic elements like the antique gold lights over the windows and the subway tile paid just the right homage to the home.

A 120 year Victorian home gets a new kitchen with high-end marble, eclectic black and gray checkered floors, to-the-ceiling shaker cabinets, and last but not least a gorgeous AGA range.

The original historical home had very low ceilings and limited views and access to the deck and pool. By relocating the laundry to a new mud room (see other images in this project) we were able to open the views and space to the back yard. By lowering the floor into the basement creating a small step down from the front dining room, we were able to gain more head height. Additionally, adding a coffered ceiling, we disguised the structure while offering slightly more height in between the structure members. While this job was an exercise in structural gymnastics, the results are a clean, open and functional space for today living while honoring the historic nature and proportions of the home. An interior renovation of the historic Phelps-Hopkins house in the quaint river town of Newburgh, Indiana. This project involved the conversion of the original butler's quarters into a new modern kitchen that was sensitive to the existing historical features of the home. The kitchen features a monumental island with Carrera marble countertops and a custom range hood.

La cuisine reprend les codes "Bistrot" afin de s'intégrer avec élégance dans la pièce de vie. sa fonction première est ainsi un peu dissimulée.
