DOWNLOAD NOW This unit, located in a 4-flat owned by TKS Owners Jeff and Susan Klimala, was remodeled as their personal pied-à-terre, and doubles as an Airbnb property when they are not using it. Jeff and Susan were drawn to the location of the building, a vibrant Chicago neighborhood, 4 blocks from Wrigley Field, as well as to the vintage charm of the 1890’s building. The entire 2 bed, 2 bath unit was renovated and furnished, including the kitchen, with a specific Parisian vibe in mind. Although the location and vintage charm were all there, the building was not in ideal shape -- the mechanicals -- from HVAC, to electrical, plumbing, to needed structural updates, peeling plaster, out of level floors, the list was long. Susan and Jeff drew on their expertise to update the issues behind the walls while also preserving much of the original charm that attracted them to the building in the first place -- heart pine floors, vintage mouldings, pocket doors and transoms. Because this unit was going to be primarily used as an Airbnb, the Klimalas wanted to make it beautiful, maintain the character of the building, while also specifying materials that would last and wouldn’t break the budget. Susan enjoyed the hunt of specifying these items and still coming up with a cohesive creative space that feels a bit French in flavor. Parisian style décor is all about casual elegance and an eclectic mix of old and new. Susan had fun sourcing some more personal pieces of artwork for the space, creating a dramatic black, white and moody green color scheme for the kitchen and highlighting the living room with pieces to showcase the vintage fireplace and pocket doors. 123 Remodeling crew and our in-house interior designer Jenna Rose completely renovated this large kitchen in Skokie, Illinois. Our team created a fresh and modern space to cook and gather with family and friends over a large dining table. We started with structural changes and demolished a load-bearing wall between the kitchen and dining area to create an open concept. Then we built a massive Carrera marble quartz island that is as functional as luxurious looking with a built-in wine cooler, dishwasher, and microwave. Three stylish pendant lights and a dozen of recessed can lights make the room feel larger and brighter. We opted-in for a counter-depth stainless sub-zero refrigerator and encased it with a custom-made cabinet extension. While white is traditional and the most popular color for kitchens, it's easy for such a room to look stark and cold. So our designer mixed glossy white cabinets with gray backsplash tiles and white-gray countertops. We also intermixed it with the natural oak shelves and plant decor to add warm contrasting elements. Two-Toned Cabinets This trend has been going strong for the last couple of years and this year its more prevalent than ever. Two-toned cabinets are a great design feature that helps add some variety to your kitchen space. You will typically see the bottom cabinets have the darker color. Blues and grays are common, buyer-friendly choices. We also have seen wood-grained cabinets on the bottom with white cabinets on top.

A classic handmade painted kitchen with contemporary styling. The kitchen/dining extension created a spacious open plan family living area with ample room for a generous kitchen island furnished with 4 elegant walnut stools under the breakfast bar and a fabulous larder nestled between the built-in fridge and freezer.

A re-modeling and renovation project with the brief from our client to create a light open functional kitchen to act as the hub of a large open plan living area. Overview Simple extension in Twickenham. The Brief The primary aim of this project was to create a space to cook and eat in while repositioning the ground floor bathroom. Our Solution The clients blend of vintage and crisp modern architecture meant the scheme could be a little industrial in its aesthetic. We have combined several key features – An oversized rooflight to flood the kitchen with sun; a feature pivot door to the garden and a simple wrapped zinc roof. With the clients fantastic garden to look onto and a reclaimed gym floor to add a bit of reclaimed chic, this has created some striking, crisp architecture. Category

This American Foursquare built in the early 1900’s needed a complete restoration. The back two story porch was rotten from years of neglect and needed to be torn down and completely rebuilt. Inside, the kitchen and bathrooms needed full renovations, and the trunk room was turned into the master bath in order to create a true master suite. Piperbear also handled the staging and assisted with the marketing of the property.
