This breathtaking kitchen was designed for entertaining. The large kitchen island is teak and features a Brittanicca Cambria countertop with a flawless waterfall edge. The 48" gas wolf range is practically a work of art framed by a modern stainless steel range hood and by the quartz panels that meld seamlessly with the wood paneling through out the great room. The modern white cabinets are punctuated with the use of built-in custom gold hardware. The vaulted ceilings create an airy and bright space which is complimented by the use of glass pendants above the bar. The gray porcelain tile flooring used through out the home flows outside to the lanai and entry to punctuate the indoor outdoor design.

Inspired by their years in Japan and California and their Scandinavian heritage, we updated this 1938 home with a earthy palette and clean lines. Rift-cut white oak cabinetry, white quartz counters and a soft green tile backsplash are balanced with details that reference the home's history. Classic light fixtures soften the modern elements. We created a new arched opening to the living room and removed the trim around other doorways to enlarge them and mimic original arched openings. Removing an entry closet and breakfast nook opened up the overall footprint and allowed for a functional work zone that includes great counter space on either side of the range, when they had none before.

The dated, blond-colored cabinetry was replaced with Dura Supreme recessed-style custom cabinets finished in white with natural maple interiors and soft close drawers. The new cabinetry was further enhanced by an exotic, level five sandblasted granite in a matte finish.

A retired teacher and grandmother, our client raised her family in this Valley view home. With amazing potential for an enhanced territorial view, this project had been on our client’s mind for quite some time. She was very particular in selecting us as her design and build team. With deep roots in her community, it was important to her that she works with a local community-based team to design a new space, while respecting its roots and craftsmanship, that her late husband had helped build.

Designer: Larry Rych Originally a U-shaped kitchen, the peninsula was replaced with an island in the center of the room. The reconfiguring of the space enlarged the room greatly. Upper cabinets with textured glass doors adds a subtle linear break between the white cabinets and the white ceiling. Separated appliances allow for a cook and a assistant in the kitchen without intermingling work triangles. Stacked glass tile on the backsplash adds a vertical effect to a very horizontal room. Besides space constraints, there were budget concerns to consider in this NYC apartment kitchen renovation. Design choices were made throughout the rest of the apartment remodel to come in under budget, and of course, on time! We included absolutely everything to make this a dream kitchen from top of the line appliances from Bertazzoni, Liebherr and Miele to signature space saving touches and custom storage solutions nestled in bespoke contemporary shaker cabinets - - like a sink tilt out, garbage roll outs, and spice cabinets - - which make this space feel and function like a much bigger kitchen. We also know that a small space doesn't need to be short on style! We decided this kitchen deserved a custom crown. This is my signature design to incorporate the plaster cove crowns throughout the apartment, only in the millwork version. This contemporary take on a prewar crown was just what was needed! Finally, we needed some pizzazz and added the Firenzecolor Swahili silver architectural coated wall which is front and center from the outside looking in to the kitchen. We achieved our goal: to create an elegant, eye catching center of attention in this tiny kitchen. This small kitchen is now a contemporary pièce de résistance in a timeless prewar building and it's wonderful to know that in the process of creating a modern, warm urban dream kitchen for this lovely client, we also changed her life! This kitchen, in a 1920's Craftsman-style home, was given a fresh new look with a gut renovation that removed the wall between the kitchen and dining room allowing the light to spread through the main level. The homeowner is a fabulous home chef and he can now cook, teach and entertain at the same time.
