Contemporary. Expansive. Multi-functional. An extensive kitchen renovation was needed to modernize an original design from 1993. Our gut remodel established a seamless new floor plan with two large islands. We lined the perimeter with ample storage and carefully layered creative lighting throughout the space. Contrasting white and walnut cabinets and an oversized copper hood, paired beautifully with a herringbone backsplash and custom live-edge table.

Ocean inspiration is evident in the Seaside Retreats kitchen. The custom cabinets are painted a stormy blue and the back splash is a node to the ocean waves.

Set on the magnificent Long Island Sound, Field Point Circle has a celebrated history as Greenwich’s premier neighborhood—and is considered one of the 10 most prestigious addresses in the country. The Pryory was designed by the eminent architectural firm Cross & Cross in the spirit of an English countryside estate and is set on 2.4 waterfront acres with a private beach and mooring. We love the marble backsplash and marble countertops, the marble floor, white kitchen cabinets, chandelier and double ovens, to name a few of our favorite design elements.

An appliance garage occupies the corner of the kitchen, with plate and stemware racks to its right, next to the oven and microwave. A stainless steel double-bowl farmhouse sink is centered under the window.

In contrast to the splash back, the beautiful simplicity of the eating station and seating area is directly inspired by the naturalistic wooden feel of Scandinavian kitchen design. This creates an interesting contrast between the separate zones of the kitchen and clearly denotes a different use for each part of the space.

Every remodel comes with its new challenges and solutions. Our client built this home over 40 years ago and every inch of the home has some sentimental value. They had outgrown the original kitchen. It was too small, lacked counter space and storage, and desperately needed an updated look. The homeowners wanted to open up and enlarge the kitchen and let the light in to create a brighter and bigger space. Consider it done! We put in an expansive 14 ft. multifunctional island with a dining nook. We added on a large, walk-in pantry space that flows seamlessly from the kitchen. All appliances are new, built-in, and some cladded to match the custom glazed cabinetry. We even installed an automated attic door in the new Utility Room that operates with a remote. New windows were installed in the addition to let the natural light in and provide views to their gorgeous property.
