The most elegant, cozy, quaint, french country kitchen in the heart of Roland Park. Simple shaker-style white cabinets decorated with a mix of lacquer gold latches, knobs, and ring pulls. Custom french-cafe-inspired hood with an accent of calacattta marble 3x6 subway tile. A center piece of the white Nostalgie Series 36 Inch Freestanding Dual Fuel Range with Natural Gas and 5 Sealed Brass Burners to pull all the gold accents together. Small custom-built island wrapped with bead board and topped with a honed Calacatta Vagli marble with ogee edges. Black ocean honed granite throughout kitchen to bring it durability, function, and contrast!

Duplex Y is located in a multi apartment building, typical to the Carmel mountain neighborhoods. The building has several entrances due to the slope it sits on. Duplex Y has its own separate entrance and a beautiful view towards Haifa bay and the Golan Heights that can be seen on a clear weather day. The client - a computer high-tech couple, with their two small daughters asked us for a simple and functional design that could remind them of their frequent visits to central and northern Europe. Their request has been accepted. Our planning approach was simple indeed, maybe even simple in a radical way: We followed the principle of clean and ultra minimal spaces, that serve their direct mission only. Complicated geometry of the rooms has been simplified by implementing built-in wood furniture into numerous niches. The most 'complicated' room (due to its broken geometry, narrow proportions and sloped ceiling) has been turned into a kid's room shaped as a clean 'wood box' for fun, games and 'edutainment'. The storage room has been refurbished to maximize it's purpose by creating enough space to store 90% of the entire family's demand. We've tried to avoid unnecessary decoration. 97% of the design has its functional use in addition to its atmospheric qualities. Weil Friedman designed this small kitchen for a townhouse in the Carnegie Hill Historic District in New York City. A cozy window seat framed by bookshelves allows for expanded light and views. The entry is framed by a tall pantry on one side and a refrigerator on the other. The Lacanche stove and custom range hood sit between custom cabinets in Farrow and Ball Calamine with soapstone counters and aged brass hardware.

This beautiful custom cabinetry hutch, was designed with glass doors, glass shelves, bun feet and warm wood top to make it look and feel like a piece of furniture. It connects to the nearby kitchen and bar visually, but also stands on its own. Glass doors mimic the custom leaded glass doors on an adjacent bar, and reflect the lake beyond the adjacent window. When it comes to style, Danielle — who just so happens to be a designer — prefers a more modern look. “If I had to choose anything at IKEA, it would have been high gloss white and some orange. That’s what I would have done with a blank slate." The house, however, has more traditional bones. Danielle needed to strike the perfect balance of modern and traditional. While the stainless lights lean more towards modern, the cabinets serve as a graceful nod to the traditional.
