We expanded this 1974 home from 1,200 square feet to 1,600 square feet with a new front addition and large kitchen remodel! This home was in near-original condition, with dark wood doors & trim, carpet, small windows, a cramped entry, and a tiny kitchen and dining space. The homeowners came to our design-build team seeking to increase their kitchen and living space and update the home's style with durable new finishes. "We're hard on our home!", our clients reminded us during the design phase of the project. The highlight of this project is the entirely remodeled kitchen, which rests in the combined footprint of the original small kitchen and the dining room. The crisp blue and white cabinetry is balanced against the warmth of the wide plank hardwood flooring, custom-milled wood trim, and new wood ceiling beam. This family now has space to gather around the large island, designed to have a useful function on each side. The entertaining sides of the island host bar seating and a wine refrigerator and built-in bottle storage. The cooking and prep sides of the island include a bookshelf for cookbooks --perfectly within reach of the gas cooktop and double ovens-- and a microwave drawer across from the refrigerator; only a step away to reheat meals.

Phase 2 of our Modern Cottage project was the complete renovation of a small, impractical kitchen and dining nook. The client asked for a fresh, bright kitchen with natural light, a pop of color, and clean modern lines. The resulting kitchen features all of the above and incorporates fun details such as a scallop tile backsplash behind the range and artisan touches such as a custom walnut island and floating shelves; a custom metal range hood and hand-made lighting. This kitchen is all that the client asked for and more!

Its hard to believe this is the same house we started on. The beams are from a barn built in 1885. Sourcing the right materials is key to pulling off a renovation like this.

This is a beautiful grey, white and stainless steel kitchen. This was a new build which gave us a lot of artistic freedom, that is how we incorporated some custom features. The large island is an amazing feature for cooking, eating and hosting friends and family. The views from the kitchen are stunning, overlooking Skaha lake and the mountains. We had the absolute pleasure of working on this project with Nik from Nik Interiors.

DOWNLOAD NOW Referred by past clients, the homeowners of this Glen Ellyn project were in need of an update and improvement in functionality for their kitchen, mudroom and laundry room. The spacious kitchen had a great layout, but benefitted from a new island, countertops, hood, backsplash, hardware, plumbing and lighting fixtures. The main focal point is now the premium hand-crafted CopperSmith hood along with a dramatic tiered chandelier over the island. In addition, painting the wood beadboard ceiling and staining the existing beams darker helped lighten the space while the amazing depth and variation only available in natural stone brought the entire room together. For the mudroom and laundry room, choosing complimentary paint colors and charcoal wave wallpaper brought depth and coziness to this project. This modern transitional home boasts an elegant kitchen that looks onto a large informal living room and shares space with the dining room and butler's pantry. Senior designer, Ayca, selected design elements that flow throughout the entire space to create a dynamic kitchen. The result is a perfect mix of industrial and organic materials, including a leathered quartzite countertop for the island with an unusual single-sided waterfall edge. The honed soapstone perimeter countertops complement the marble fireplace of the living room. A custom zinc vent hood, burnished brass mesh cabinet fronts, and leather finish slabs contrast against the dark wood floors, ceiling, and upper beams. Organic elements of the dining room chandelier and grey-white walls add softness to space when combined with the influence of crisp natural light. A chic color palette of warm neutrals, greys, blacks, and hints of metallics seep from the open-facing kitchen into the neighboring rooms, creating a design that is striking, modern, and cohesive.

With a striking, bold design that's both sleek and warm, this modern rustic black kitchen is a beautiful example of the best of both worlds. When our client from Wendover approached us to re-design their kitchen, they wanted something sleek and sophisticated but also comfortable and warm. We knew just what to do — design and build a contemporary yet cosy kitchen. This space is about clean, sleek lines. We've chosen Hacker Systemat cabinetry — sleek and sophisticated — in the colours Black and Oak. A touch of warm wood enhances the black units in the form of oak shelves and backsplash. The wooden accents also perfectly match the exposed ceiling trusses, creating a cohesive space. This modern, inviting space opens up to the garden through glass folding doors, allowing a seamless transition between indoors and out. The area has ample lighting from the garden coming through the glass doors, while the under-cabinet lighting adds to the overall ambience. The island is built with two types of worksurface: Dekton Laurent (a striking dark surface with gold veins) for cooking and Corian Designer White for eating. Lastly, the space is furnished with black Siemens appliances, which fit perfectly into the dark colour palette of the space.
