Recuperamos el interior de algunos de los muebles bajos, cambiamos las puertas con un aire rústico moderno y ampliamos zona de almacenaje bajo la escalera y con muebles altos. La encimera de madera fue un acierto, tanto por estética como por precio, una casa antigua debe mantener elementos con personalidad e historia. ¡Finalmente dimos ese toque de textura en las paredes con nuestra baldosa preferida! ¡Parece mentira que con estos cambios hayamos conseguido un resultado tan funcional y bonito!

Complete remodel of a historical Presidio Heights pueblo revival home—originally designed by Charles Whittlesey in 1908. Exterior façade was reskinned with historical colors but the original architectural details were left intact. Work included the excavation and expansion of the existing street level garage, seismic upgrades throughout, new interior stairs from the garage level, complete remodel of kitchen, baths, bedrooms, decks, gym, office, laundry, mudroom and the addition of two new skylights. New radiant flooring, electrical and plumbing installed throughout.

This traditional colonial styled kitchen was achieved by removing a modern oak kitchen installed in the early 1970's. The renovation started with custom built windows to fit the existing openings, refinishing the original hardwood flooring, adding custom painted white inset cabinetry, professional appliances and granite countertops. A white 3"x6" subway tile was install on the backsplash to add to the traditional feel. The kitchen island houses a convection oven and has custom wood corbel brackets to support the overhang for the barstools. Finally, the original butler pantry was refinished and updated with new base cabinets to house a dishwasher, sink, and original radiator situated under the sink. The existing wood wainscott backsplash was refinished and modified to fit the new tropical brown granite countertops.

The large soapstone island is perfect for the kids’ afternoon snack or homework table. The soapstone acts as a natural antimicrobial surface and will nicely patina over time. The concept of mixing the colours of doors in kitchens seems to have exploded in popularity in the last few years. Some go for bold and in your face, whilst others like a more understated approach. In this kitchen the latter of these two has been observed. For much of the kitchen, a simple White Gloss Manston door with glass effect edging has been utilised to lift and brighten the kitchen, adding in just a touch of shape and dimension with a Gloss Graphite door in the same range on one wall. Using a slightly different approach with handles, the stainless-steel profile handle sitting atop the door means that the kitchen remains sleek and also safe without taking away from the overall look. With all those square edges of the doors and handles, the worktops needed to be softened with curves. Not only a stunning look, but ergonomically crafted to enable safe passage through the kitchen. Large drawers to the right of the cooker give easy and ready access to all sorts of items requiring storage. Whether it be pots & pans, crockery or even food, these drawers are a boon to the frequent kitchen user as easy access storage. No need to start rooting in the back of a cupboard for that colander anymore! Overall, the kitchen is practical, ergonomically well designed and with the finishing touches of tiling and flooring, most importantly, a beautiful space to spend time in.
