This was such an important kitchen for us to get absolutely right. Our client wanted to make the absolute most out the small space that they had. Therefore, we proposed to gut the room completely and start by moving the plumbing and electrics around to get everything where it wanted to go. We will then get the room fully plastered and the ceiling over-boarded with 3x new downlights. The oven housing is a bespoke unit which is designed to sit on top of the worksurface and has a functional drawer below and extra storage above. We have scribed this up to the ceiling to make the kitchen easy to clean and give it the complete fitted appearance. The gas meter is situated in the corner of the room which is why we opted for a 900 x 900 L-shaped corner unit to make access to this easier and it also pushed the sink base to the far RH side which keeps the sink and hob at a larger distance. The hob is a domino gas hob which we will connect directly from the gas meter. With the carcasses being "Natural Hamilton Oak" we have introduced some floating shelves in the same colour which also tie in with the LVT floor. These work far better than wall units as they open to room out and allows the window to offer more natural daylight. Finally, to save our client money, we put a freestanding fridge/freezer in the alcove rather than an integrated. There is no right or wrong answer here but generally a freestanding appliance will be less expensive.

Our design process is set up to tease out what is unique about a project and a client so that we can create something peculiar to them. When we first went to see this client, we noticed that they used their fridge as a kind of notice board to put up pictures by the kids, reminders, lists, cards etc… with magnets onto the metal face of the old fridge. In their new kitchen they wanted integrated appliances and for things to be neat, but we felt these drawings and cards needed a place to be celebrated and we proposed a cork panel integrated into the cabinet fronts… the idea developed into a full band of cork, stained black to match the black front of the oven, to bind design together. It also acts as a bit of a sound absorber (important when you have 3yr old twins!) and sits over the splash back so that there is a lot of space to curate an evolving backdrop of things you might pin to it. In this design, we wanted to design the island as big table in the middle of the room. The thing about thinking of an island like a piece of furniture in this way is that it allows light and views through and around; it all helps the island feel more delicate and elegant… and the room less taken up by island. The frame is made from solid oak and we stained it black to balance the composition with the stained cork. The sink run is a set of floating drawers that project from the wall and the flooring continues under them - this is important because again, it makes the room feel more spacious. The full height cabinets are purposefully a calm, matt off white. We used Farrow and Ball ’School house white’… because its our favourite ‘white’ of course! All of the whitegoods are integrated into this full height run: oven, microwave, fridge, freezer, dishwasher and a gigantic pantry cupboard. A sweet detail is the hand turned cabinet door knobs - The clients are music lovers and the knobs are enlarged versions of the volume knob from a 1970s record player.

Our clients made the bold decision to move to a smaller home than they were currently in to get closer in to the city – and they had a vision: a whole home remodel with a strong nod to mid-century design. We started by opening up the first floor to create a sense of space and built in a beautiful entertaining kitchen, complete with banquette, large island and waterfall countertops, remodeled the fireplace with rounded alcove book shelves, and lightened the flooring. The second floor was an unfinished blank slate. We went complete MCM on the bathroom including terrazzo tiles, and a floating walnut vanity, and we added skylights with black out remote shades, and a hidden bookshelf alcove for a sneak-away office in the front dormer. This home is simple, elegant and full of extraordinary design. We wish our homeowners a lifetime of happiness in their new space.

The clients originally wanted a home spa styled bathroom but halfway through the project, they decided they also wanted their kitchen remodel as well. Taking on the challenge, our builders took on the second project and work tirelessly to get both projects finished by the deadline. The results are two amazing spaces filled with the elegant detailed work expected at Green Bay Remodeling.

The kitchen remodel includes a cool white backsplash in the kitchen. This detail beautifully compliments the cool tones throughout the rest of the kitchen's tiles and kitchen cabinets. The highlight and most significant feature of this kitchen remodel has not one, but two kitchen islands. This allows for more working space, and more room to makes hosting more enjoyable. The brass detailing on the cabinets and kitchen sink is rich and warm, giving the perfect detail to this regal kitchen. We love a kitchen that can accommodate a wine fridge and mini-fridge for the family who loves to entertain and enjoys hosting. This 7,500 square feet home, situated on a waterfront site in Sag Harbor, New York, was designed as a shared vacation home for four brothers and their families. A collaborative effort between the clients and Cecil Baker + Partners yielded a contemporary home that pays homage to the Eastern Long Island vernacular. The home is composed of three distinct volumes that step back from one another to optimize both the water view and privacy. The two outer wings take on familiar cedar-clad, pitched roof geometry while the central three-story glass box links them together and anchors the home. The two car garage, with a private living space above, projects from the main house via a breezeway, defining a private garden. The interior of the home integrates warm, tactile materials and clean modern lines. The use of full-height windows, floor-to-ceiling glass curtain wall, and an operable overhead glass door creates an indoor-outdoor living experience and floods the home with natural light. The subtle choreography of the interior space lends flexibility to the Client for both social and private uses of the home. The first floor contains an open plan for the kitchen, living room, dining area and sunroom, and the second floor includes two full master suites facing the bay, a guest room with spectacular water views, and a children's room that overlooks the garden. The fully finished basement holds a large playroom, a gym, a full spa bath and a wine cellar. In addition, views in all directions are unobstructed from a third floor roof terrace. It was a fairly small footprint and we didn’t have the budget to move anything around, meaning the sink and appliance locations needed to remain. It made the design limiting but once it was all done we absolutely loved it. Another challenge was making the small space bright. With the white upper cabinets, white tile and countertops, and recessed lighting, the whole space ended up much brighter than we expected.
