The home was a very outdated Southwest style with Aztec architectural elements, and it was time for a transformation to the beautiful modern style you see now. We ripped out all the flooring throughout, squared off and removed a lot of the Aztec styled elements in the home, redesigned the fireplace and opened up the kitchen. In the kitchen, we opened up a wall that made the kitchen feel very closed in, allowing us room to make a more linear and open kitchen. Opening up the kitchen and its new layout allowed us to create a large accent island that is truly a statement piece. Our clients hand selected every finish you see, including the rare granite that has beautiful pops of purple and waterfall edges. To create some contrast, the island has a pretty neutral taupe acrylic cabinetry and the perimeter has textured laminate cabinets with a fun white geometric backsplash. Our clients use their TV in their kitchen, so we created a custom built in just for their TV on the backwall. For the fireplace to now match the homes new style, we reshaped it to have sleek lines and had custom metal pieces acid washed for the center with stacked stone on the sides for texture. Enjoy!

Cuisine située dans l'entrée à la place de la salle de bain. La cuisine communique avec la salle-à-manger en toute discrétion. Plan de travail en granit Green Forest du Rajastan (tons de beige) dont les veines rappellent les racines d'arbres. Crédence avec miroir ce qui permet un apport de lumière.

While working with this couple on their master bathroom, they asked us to renovate their kitchen which was still in the 70’s and needed a complete demo and upgrade utilizing new modern design and innovative technology and elements. We transformed an indoor grill area with curved design on top to a buffet/serving station with an angled top to mimic the angle of the ceiling. Skylights were incorporated for natural light and the red brick fireplace was changed to split face stacked travertine which continued over the buffet for a dramatic aesthetic. The dated island, cabinetry and appliances were replaced with bark-stained Hickory cabinets, a larger island and state of the art appliances. The sink and faucet were chosen from a source in Chicago and add a contemporary flare to the island. An additional buffet area was added for a tv, bookshelves and additional storage. The pendant light over the kitchen table took some time to find exactly what they were looking for, but we found a light that was minimalist and contemporary to ensure an unobstructed view of their beautiful backyard. The result is a stunning kitchen with improved function, storage, and the WOW they were going for.

Designer Jodi Tramontin, CMKBD decided to create a "Contemporary Craftsman" inspired kitchen which would flow with the rest of the home's architecture, design and materials. In order to create the perfect Contemporary Craftsman-inspired kitchen, she selected Dura Supreme's popular Lynden door style. The clean, simple lines on the doors rails and stiles along with the beautiful bevel detailing are the perfect complement to the Contemporary Craftsman-inspired kitchen that she wanted to create. After the door style was decided on, it was time to create the color palette. When creating a color palette for a particular space, start by determining what items that will be staying in the room that you’ll need to coordinate with. For example, for Jodi’s new kitchen she needed to work with the existing paint, millwork (casings, trim, interior doors), and hardwood floor colors. “One of the most common questions I get as a designer is "Do my cabinets have to match the rest of the woodwork within the home?" My answer to that question is "No - absolutely not". I love mixing different wood tones within any given space to create a unique and comfortable look.” – Jodi Tramontin, CMKBD After looking at many different options for the cabinet finishes, Jodi decided on Dura Supreme's “Hazelnut stain” on Cherry for the perimeter cabinetry and Dura Supreme’s “Latte” paint on Maple/Paintable for the island. Both of these finishes coordinate beautifully with the existing paint, millwork, and hardwood. Jodi also opted to go with a Low Sheen level on the stained finishes. Dura Supreme's standard sheen level on our stains is a semi-gloss finish while the low sheen is considered a satin finish. The low sheen option is just as strong and durable as our standard sheen. This smart, handless style is the perfect choice for a busy family that like to entertain, as all the essentials are kept hidden behind the push-to-open doors and drawers. Carefully designed with balance and symmetry in mind, the run of tall cabinets places the Miele ArtLine ‘Touch2Open’ handleless oven at the centre with fridge and freezer either side. Note, the break front detail at the centre of this run to create interest in an otherwise flush wall of cabinets. At either end there are large, capacious cupboards with retractable fold-away doors and drawers. We particularly love our clients’ colour choices where the rich tones of the cabinets in Farrow & Ball’s Downpipe and kitchen island in F&B’s Railings are beautifully offset by the wall colour in India Yellow and the touches of copper throughout the kitchen. Altogether, a palette that is warm and welcoming! A couple of classic Planet features are the oh-so-glam Drinks Cabinet with Antiqued Mirror backing glass and the Breakfast Cupboard – a popular choice for keeping breakfast essentials both accessible and tidy. They both have the same granite worktops, inside, to match the Black Fusion Satinato Granite worktop of the kitchen island. Keeping it contemporary, the island worktop and top edges of the doors and drawers have a ‘shark nose’ edge detail and the clever, Caple Black Glass & Copper Downdraft Extractor on the island means the Neff Induction Hob can work effectively without an overhead extractor. Other important details are the Euro Cave built-in Wine Cooler, the Caple Sinks & Taps in a Copper finish and all the Miele appliances are ArtLine ‘Touch2Open’ Graphite Grey.
