A partial remodel of a Marin ranch home, this residence was designed to highlight the incredible views outside its walls. The husband, an avid chef, requested the kitchen be a joyful space that supported his love of cooking. High ceilings, an open floor plan, and new hardware create a warm, comfortable atmosphere. With the concept that “less is more,” we focused on the orientation of each room and the introduction of clean-lined furnishings to highlight the view rather than the decor, while statement lighting, pillows, and textures added a punch to each space.

GD Arredamenti teams up with Colonnade Group and architect Morris Adjmi for a new boutique residential development located in the Tribeca West Historic District, New York. The gracious interiors, design by Stefano Pasqualetti, and the layouts of these apartments provide for a quiet respite from city life and elegant entertaining; Velvet Elite walnut kitchen collection was used in a combination of frosted white glass with black aluminum frame and both walnut veneer and 3-layer solid Walnut (for the Penthouse only). In addition, beautiful marbles from Italy enrich the whole apartments; accordingly top of the line appliances from Miele and Subzero-Wolf makes these kitchens highly functional and yet beautiful. Master bathrooms and powder rooms, elegantly clad in custom etched Carrara marble, were also designed with the use of natural materials; such as custom built washbasins in Piasentina stone and Serena stone, all manufactured by GD Arredamenti. This is another favorite home redesign project. Throughout my career, I've worked with some hefty budgets on a number of high-end projects. You can visit Paris Kitchens and Somerset Kitchens, companies that I have worked for previously, to get an idea of what I mean. I could start name dropping here, but I won’t, because that's not what this project is about. This project is about a small budget and a happy homeowner. This was one of the first projects with a custom interior design at a fraction of a regular budget. I could use the term “value engineering” to describe it, because this particular interior was heavily value engineered. The result: a sophisticated interior that looks so much more expensive than it is. And one ecstatic homeowner. Mission impossible accomplished. ​ P.S. Don’t ask me how much it cost, I promised the homeowner that their impressive budget will remain confidential. In any case, no one would believe me even if I spilled the beans.

La nueva tipología de hogar se basa en las construcciones tradicionales de la zona, pero con un toque contemporáneo. Una caja blanca apoyada sobre otra de piedra que, a su vez, se abre para dejar aparecer el vidrio, permite dialogar perfectamente la sensación de protección y refugio necesarios con las vistas y la luz del maravilloso paisaje que la rodea. La casa se encuentra situada en la vertiente sur del macizo de Peña Cabarga en el pueblo de Pámanes. El edificio está orientado hacia el sur, permitiendo disfrutar de las impresionantes vistas hacia el valle y se distribuye en dos niveles: sala de estar, espacios de uso diurno y dormitorios en la planta baja y estudio y dormitorio principal en planta alta.

A large, open plan family style kitchen with flat, matt charcoal cabinetry and u-channel handles. The worktops and splash back are bespoke surfaces, hand crafted using micro-cement with liquid metal resin detailing to create the stunning visual effect of natural, tactile veining throughout. This re-surfacing technique is more than decorative. Micro-cement's wear-resistant and water proof properties, combined with the visual versatility and cost-effective application, made the use of the material an obvious solution to many design elements of this project. Each vein was carefully crafted with the artistic eye of an expert, with stunning attention to detail.

The Atherton House is a family compound for a professional couple in the tech industry, and their two teenage children. After living in Singapore, then Hong Kong, and building homes there, they looked forward to continuing their search for a new place to start a life and set down roots. The site is located on Atherton Avenue on a flat, 1 acre lot. The neighboring lots are of a similar size, and are filled with mature planting and gardens. The brief on this site was to create a house that would comfortably accommodate the busy lives of each of the family members, as well as provide opportunities for wonder and awe. Views on the site are internal. Our goal was to create an indoor- outdoor home that embraced the benign California climate. The building was conceived as a classic “H” plan with two wings attached by a double height entertaining space. The “H” shape allows for alcoves of the yard to be embraced by the mass of the building, creating different types of exterior space. The two wings of the home provide some sense of enclosure and privacy along the side property lines. The south wing contains three bedroom suites at the second level, as well as laundry. At the first level there is a guest suite facing east, powder room and a Library facing west. The north wing is entirely given over to the Primary suite at the top level, including the main bedroom, dressing and bathroom. The bedroom opens out to a roof terrace to the west, overlooking a pool and courtyard below. At the ground floor, the north wing contains the family room, kitchen and dining room. The family room and dining room each have pocketing sliding glass doors that dissolve the boundary between inside and outside. Connecting the wings is a double high living space meant to be comfortable, delightful and awe-inspiring. A custom fabricated two story circular stair of steel and glass connects the upper level to the main level, and down to the basement “lounge” below. An acrylic and steel bridge begins near one end of the stair landing and flies 40 feet to the children’s bedroom wing. People going about their day moving through the stair and bridge become both observed and observer. The front (EAST) wall is the all important receiving place for guests and family alike. There the interplay between yin and yang, weathering steel and the mature olive tree, empower the entrance. Most other materials are white and pure. The mechanical systems are efficiently combined hydronic heating and cooling, with no forced air required.

A city condo needed an uplift, all finishes started to feel outdated, the kitchen's layout did not work for a dynamic couple who love to entertain and play Bridge with their friends on the regular basis. We developed a plan how to provide a luxurious experience and necessary changes in the limited space. The condo has some physical limitations as well, such as the load bearing walls could not be changed, the duct work had to stay in place, and the floor finishes had to satisfy strict sound restrictions.
