Although we won the award for our master suite design. The living/ kitchen area is also worthy of an award! The black and white color palette is used throughout the house to make the design cohesive. The apple green dining table adds some excitement and draws a connection to the green of the landscape visible through the expansive windows. The subtle use of color and the connection to natural world through the use of carefully selected windows really dispells the myth that modern designs are stark and unwelcoming.

This expansive contemporary kitchen features a mixture gloss white and multi-shade laminate custom cabinetry by Wood-Mode, Sub-Zero, Wolf & Cove gourmet integrated appliances, Cambria countertops and a custom Hammerton island light fixture. The design and materials blend beautifully with their exquisite art collection.

Light floods this casual yet sophisticated contemporary Hamptons haven, with walls of windows allowing backyard views to dominate. White quartz countertops and pale flooring reflect light, even on overcast days. Bilotta Designer Doranne Phillips Telberg designed the flat panel doors with a horizontal grain pattern that leads the eye around the room, while the soft driftwood-toned finish complements the wooded site. Floating shelves on either side of the hood make everything visible and accessible, and provide a clear sightline to the open plan dining and living areas. The efficient layout positions the main sink in the 10’ waterfall island facing the scenery, opposite the 48” professional range. Two paneled dishwashers make quick work of cleanup. Anchoring the work triangle are integrated fridge and freezer columns, paneled to be indistinguishable from the pantry on the left. A microwave drawer sits adjacent to the refrigeration. A covered deck steps away means you’ll never be stuck indoors when it rains, and the fire pit assures outdoor living in all but the harshest weather. A wet bar with a beverage refrigerator is strategically located next to the sliding glass door, facilitating service. Another convenience is the folding window that opens out to the deck for easy delivery of food and drinks to guests. This beautiful, soft contemporary kitchen, bar and dining area are a result of combining rooms - a former closed off, galley-style kitchen and separate formal dining room - to create a comfortable, functional but sophisticated new space, open to views of Lake Michigan. The homeowner wanted to transform their 1980’s traditional home into an open contemporary dwelling. This was achieved by removing various load bearing walls. Providing a chef style kitchen with a 9” x 4” brushed granite island, contemporary laminate cabinets, some with brushed nickel and frosted glass doors, stainless steel appliances, and an abundance of lighting. In the living room the fireplace was remodeled by installing a white stacking stone to the 10’ fireplace. The master bathroom was transformed into a spa like retreat by building a 8-1/2’ x 3-1/2’ shower with body sprays, an overhead rain shower, and heated floor.

Finished with satin magnolia doors and featuring bespoke Iroko design details, the design includes a large island accommodating prep, wet and cooking areas.
