These SoHo homeowners on King Street in Manhattan completely transformed the kitchen of their pied-a-terre.

The client wanted to stay with a galley kitchen design but wanted to change the décor, storage space and counter space of the room. By moving the position of the appliances, adding custom cabinets and replacing the flooring, our team was able to create a new modern style kitchen that was able to better utilize the space in the room.

In der SieMatic-Küche wurde großen Wert auf eine klare Linienführung gelegt, die stylisch und pflegeleicht zugleich im Alltag punktet. Die Schrankfronten und Schubfächer wurden daher großformatig gewählt, die Fronten matt und grifflos ausgesucht. Damit bilden der helle Grundton eine stilvolle Basis, zu der die glänzend schwarzen Elektrogeräte von Miele einen edlen Kontrast bilden.

La cucina, aperta sul soggiorno circolare, è completamente bianca, con isola centrale e colonne a tutta parete. Unica nota di colore, nel bow window, il tavolo con piano in vetro satinato, entrambi color "melanzana", colore che si ritrova in altri dettagli della casa, come i cuscini sui divani.

A machined hood, custom stainless cabinetry and exposed ducting harkens to a commercial vibe. The 5'x10' marble topped island wears many hats. From the architect's description: "This grand detached period property in Teddington suffered from a lack of connectivity with the rear garden as well as a cramped kitchen and poorly lit living spaces. Replacing the original modest gable end rear extension a collection of new intersecting volumes contain a generous open plan space accommodating a new kitchen, dining area and snug. The existing side return lean-to has also been replaced with a large utility space that boasts full height integrated storage and a new WC. Taking every opportunity to harness natural light from its east facing orientation an assortment of glazing features including a clearstory window, glazed kitchen splashback, glazed corner window and two roof lights have been carefully positioned to ensure every elevation of the new extension is suitably equipped to capture daylight. Careful detailing of the recycled bricks from the old extension with new European Larch cladding provide crisply defined apertures containing new expansive full height minimally-framed sliding doors opening up the rear elevation onto a new raised patio space."

The flooring design was customized as per the color scheme of the kitchen. For the backsplash, we used a smart tile. Appliances from Kaff and Sleek.
