An 1800’s carriage house sets the stage for this classic kitchen remodel. The homeowners wanted to be true to the architecture of their home while incorporating top quality, cutting edge appliances and modern day conveniences. They are discerning cooks who entertain often. The original kitchen, done in the 1990’s, had built-out walls covering the original stone of the house. Once exposed and repointed, the stone served as an amazing backsplash in the space, and we were able to gain almost 12” in the width of the room! The fabulous matte black BlueStar range is topped off with a unique antique fireback and is complimented by hand-pegged, hand-planed custom cabinetry that are scribed to the stone walls with precision. The distressed soapstone counters bring warmth to the space that makes you want to cozy up and stay a while. Since the kitchen does not allow for an island, the unused dining room was turned into a combined bar area and butler’s pantry. This small room packs a lot in with antique heart pine countertops, beadboard backsplash, and cabinetry backs, which provide a warm, casual feel. An additional refrigerator and dishwasher, as well as an icemaker, all hidden behind cabinetry panels, provide everything they need, and more, for entertaining family and friends. In this project, we had a possibility to work with a client wanted to dump the life in the established city apartment. For the purpose, he bought a garage that we converted into the small home for two and a dog. The camera view is showing us the kitchen and small folding table for two. The entire module was built around a small restroom with shower part. On the top of the module is bedroom area.

Our client approached us while he was in the process of purchasing his ½ lot detached unit in Hermosa Beach. He was drawn to a design / build approach because although he has great design taste, as a busy professional he didn’t have the time or energy to manage every detail involved in a home remodel. The property had been used as a rental unit and was in need of TLC. By bringing us onto the project during the purchase we were able to help assess the true condition of the home. Built in 1976, the 894 sq. ft. home had extensive termite and dry rot damage from years of neglect. The project required us to reframe the home from the inside out. To design a space that your client will love you really need to spend time getting to know them. Our client enjoys entertaining small groups. He has a custom turntable and considers himself a mixologist. We opened up the space, space-planning for his custom turntable, to make it ideal for entertaining. The wood floor is reclaimed wood from manufacturing facilities. The reframing work also allowed us to make the roof a deck with an ocean view. The home is now a blend of the latest design trends and vintage elements and our client couldn’t be happier! Designer: Emily Blonigen This Lynnhurst home and family were ready for a kitchen update. After living in a tight kitchen with little storage, the homeowners were looking to open walls and add some additional cabinetry. The new kitchen was designed to salvage a few existing cabinets as well as design new storage for the larger kitchen footprint. The new kitchen is open to the existing sunroom addition and dining area for the family to enjoy open living. New hardwood flooring in the kitchen, painted two-tone cabinetry in White and Hale Navy, and walnut counters finish the room. One of our favorite parts of the space is the custom bi-pass pantry storage. Floating shelves and a walnut accent on the back wall really make the storage pop for open or closed storage use. The walnut accent was also carried above the fridge in the wine storage rack. The contrasting colors and materials with the light bright walls create a soothing Scandinavian kitchen design.
