The original kitchen in this stunning home was L-shaped and had a small island and peninsula seating. We expanded the kitchen by enclosing an existing screen porch and adding a new porch to the rear of the house with breathtaking lake views. Large picture windows replaced existing double hung windows for open views and unencumbered sight lines. The kitchen was relocated and expanded with a new and improved layout featuring an oversized island with ample seating and a warm wood countertop. The Thermador range takes center stage between the large picture windows and has a boxed hood with vent. Cabinet panels were added to the built-in refrigerator for a clean and sophisticated look. The white cabinets and marble look quartz are balanced by the warm wood floors and stained countertops. Lantern style pendant lights and strategically placed can lights add to the warmth and brightness of this spectacularly renovated kitchen. A keeping room was added where the kitchen used to be. A cozy fireplace and reworked windows provide a relaxing space for entertaining. A built-in bar and beverage station was designed for this casual, yet elegant space. A sliding barn door leads to a large walk-through pantry. The new kitchen placement allowed us to provide a connection to the existing living room with an oversized cased opening. The spaces are now perfectly aligned for daily living and entertaining. The client is thrilled with the design and is in awe of the results. Kustom Home Design provided the perfect solution for this luxury kitchen renovation.

Goals The clients main goal was more space. They desired a new kitchen that was large enough to fit their growing family and to update other rooms in their home to fit their contemporary style. Our Design Solution In order to enlarge the kitchen, we had to build a new addition. The original kitchen was just too small and had no where to expand to within the house. With moving the entire kitchen into the addition, there was now room to create a mudroom and a new bathroom. Above the new kitchen, we gave the client a new master suite. We used white cabinets, a custom wood counter, and gray back splash tile, to give the kitchen the contemporary feel the clients were seeking. C.J South Photography

The soft white painted cabinetry beautifully matches the golden tones of the Appalachian Oak. The worktop and hand-turned doorknobs sit perfectly within the run of kitchen cabinets.

This extension Smith & Sons was involved in from the beginning. We worked with the client to confirm design and completed working drawings. The outcome was a beautiful extension with a stunning kitchen. We were please to receive the below review from our client. The whole process of dealing with Hayden from planning through to building was both enjoyable and hassle free. After hearing so many horror stories from friends who have extended, we found it an absolute pleasure to deal with Hayden. Hayden and his associates had integrity, an ability to listen to what we wanted and to follow through on our wishes. Having a house with a heritage overlay, we wanted to make some modern changes but also retain the local significance of the age of the home. Thanks to Hayden and the team, we now have a gorgeous new spacious home that we love.

Industrial meets eclectic in this kitchen, pantry and laundry renovation by Dan Kitchens Australia.
