APD was hired to update the kitchen, living room, primary bathroom and bedroom, and laundry room in this suburban townhome. The design brought an aesthetic that incorporated a fresh updated and current take on traditional while remaining timeless and classic. The kitchen layout moved cooking to the exterior wall providing a beautiful range and hood moment. Removing an existing peninsula and re-orienting the island orientation provided a functional floorplan while adding extra storage in the same square footage. A specific design request from the client was bar cabinetry integrated into the stair railing, and we could not be more thrilled with how it came together! The primary bathroom experienced a major overhaul by relocating both the shower and double vanities and removing an un-used soaker tub. The design added linen storage and seated beauty vanity while expanding the shower to a luxurious size. Dimensional tile at the shower accent wall relates to the dimensional tile at the kitchen backsplash without matching the two spaces to each other while tones of cream, taupe, and warm woods with touches of gray are a cohesive thread throughout.

The farmhouse kitchen design has been popular for years. Who doesn’t love the downhome feel of a rustic and cozy space? This Pennsylvania family’s kitchen exemplifies everything wonderful about this style. Their kitchen has an allure that draws you in and details that invite you to stay. Tearing out the old, outdated cabinets and replacing them with custom updates was the way to go. While they loved the classic farmhouse style, they were seeking a cabinet door design that would stand the test of time. White Shaker on the perimeter cabinets and Colonial Blue cabinetry on the island, making a beautiful distinction from the white perimeter. This once entirely enclosed kitchen was in need a modern update. The clients wanted a space that could function for private gatherings as well as business functions. Complete with plug-ins and USB ports at every spot at the island and an over-sized banquet table to accommodate 12 if necessary, this condominium can host a variety of events. The panoramic views only make cooking in the gourmet kitchen, that much more enticing.

Beautiful "Transitional" kitchen design. Painted white, raised panel cabinets on the wall with a contrasting Cherry Slate island. The floors are a porcelain wood plank. Counter tops are two different materials. We used a beige quartz in the kitchen and quartzite on the island. The backsplash is largely 3x6 white ceramic subway tile with an accent above the cooktop. The hood is custom made by Matt Reidhead. This renovation involved expanding the kitchen space into an adjacent office area, creating a side entry, new kitchen layout that worked well for two cooks, professional grade appliances, oversized island with seating on two sides, eat-in area, sitting area and furniture look cabinets with both stained and painted finishes. We enlarged an existing window by creating a boxed bay at the relocated sink and designed a continuous quartzite counter which serves as planting ledge for herbs and flowers. Some of the appliances were integrated into the cabinetry with panels, while others were designed as impact pieces. Custom designed cabinets include a large mantel style chimney hood with vent insert, furniture grade hutch with leaded glass doors, contrasting stained island with seating on two sides, bar with wine refrigerator and deep drawers, and a galley style butler's pantry which provides secondary prep space and ample storage. Details such as shaped cabinet feet, upper glass front cabinets, pull-out trash drawer, spice columns and hidden drawers and storage make this newly designed kitchen space feel luxurious and function perfectly. Traditional materials and forms meld seamlessly with industrial accents and modern amenities. Mixed metals are used in a balanced and dynamic way with warm gold tone cabinet hardware, stainless steel and chrome all working in harmony. 4 feet was all that was added to this kitchen, however, relocating the powder room and opening it up to the new family room addition made all the difference in the world. Described as serene by many that visit the morning sun floods the kitchen in the morning and the evening sun coming in from the family room and full southern exposure over the sink make the lighting somewhat unnecessary. The white beaded inset cabinets with traditional hardware were selected to keep the space in alignment with the design intent of the original 1920's detailing of the home. The lights over the island were salvaged from a 1920 brokerage house in Newark, NJ. the shade over the farmhouse sink was salvaged from the original home and a new fixture was made to showcase it. Hand painted ceramic tile was selected for the backsplash.

The brief was clear throughout the design consultation, the clients wanted to craft a Classic English kitchen that harmoniously blended traditional craftsmanship with modernity – this is our Classic Shaker with an upgraded island in our beautiful Mapesbury handleless design. A gorgeous space where function was paramount yet still felt warm, welcoming and just as charming as its surroundings. Our lovely clients carefully selected the paint colours and opted for a two-tone colour combination on their handmade cabinets. The colours are 221 Basalt and 236 Flint, both by Little Greene. Meticulously planning every detail of each and every appliance, we produced a practical kitchen layout that was best suited for our client and the space provided. We bought design freedom to the home with a comprehensive suite of luxury appliances from Fisher & Paykel that complemented this family’s way of life. No classic English kitchen is complete without a Shaws of Darwen sink. Complementing this is a Perrin & Rowe tap and a Quooker tap.

This renovation transformed a dark cherry kitchen into an elegant space for cooking and entertaining. The working island features a prep sink and faces a Wolf 48” range and custom stainless steel hood with nickel strapping and rivet details. The eating island is differentiated by arched brackets and polished stainless steel boots on the elevated legs. A neutral, veined Quartzite for the islands and perimeter countertops was paired with a herringbone, ceramic tile backsplash, and rift oak textured cabinetry for style. Intelligent design features walnut drawer interiors and pull-out drawers for spices and condiments, along with another for lid storage. A water dispenser was expressly designed to be accessible yet hidden from view to offset the home’s well water system and was a favorite feature of the homeowner.

Kitchen makeover - The original dark brown cabinets were refinished with a more modern white finish. Many of the upper cabinets and the window over the sink were removed to make room for a larger window to allow more natural light to enter the space. A custom built island was added allowing for more storage space and a great work and entertaining space. Reclaimed wood shelving was added where some of the upper cabinets were removed to help complete the look of this new, open and modern kitchen space.

This unique kitchen design is a combination of a traditional shaker door style, paired with modern-flat panel doors, from the Biefbi collections of 'Diamante' and 'BK System". The Diamante units are lacquered white with a raised solid oak center panel with built-in recessed finger pulls that creates a unique shaker door with integrated handles. The BK System modern units are made with high gloss laminate in the colour "corda". It uses a combination of handle-less aluminum profiles and handles. The 'Diamante' main kitchen wall includes base units for the cooktop and storage, wall units and glass wall units with integrated flush LED lights. The "Diamante" island includes a sink drawer unit and custom panel front dishwasher, garbage pull-out and pan drawer pull-out. The "BK System" units are used for the refrigerator and oven wall, which includes both the door fronts for integrated appliances and for the tall unit storage. The beverage centre/coffee bar, and tall dining room storage, are all done with the same taupe high gloss laminate finishes and wood laminate accents.
