Andy Langley We've been lusting after beautiful mustard colours for a long time now, and we decided to finally take the plunge. We knew that the arrangement of cabinets that we had created for the back wall would look perfect in a statement colour, with the beautiful open walnut shelving that perfectly complements this colour palette. We love how the rich intensity of this timber adds such a sophisticated vibe to the kitchen and helps to break up the yellow slightly. We also knew that we had the island that we could use to create an eye-catching feature in the design. We kept the same white quartz worktop on the island, as it has a gorgeous wrap around feature that we think works perfectly with the rest of the kitchen. We love Inchyra Blue by Farrow and Ball, and after seeing so many of our customers use it in their kitchens, we knew that we needed to incorporate it in some way into the Pelham Kitchen. We didn't want to overpower the India Yellow in any way and didn't want it to feel like the colours were battling against one another. By having the small island finished in Inchyra Blue allows both colours to separately gain attention and create a beautiful comfortable feeling within the room. We wanted to create subtle points of symmetry throughout the room, so used walnut backings within the Ladbroke handles to tie in with the other use of the walnut in the kitchen.

An original Sandy Cohen design mid-century house in Laurelhurst neighborhood in Seattle. The house was originally built for illustrator Irwin Caplan, known for the "Famous Last Words" comic strip in the Saturday Evening Post. The residence was recently bought from Caplan’s estate by new owners, who found that it ultimately needed both cosmetic and functional upgrades. The new owners of a huge Mt. Airy estate were looking to renovate the kitchen in their perfectly preserved and maintained home. We gutted the 1990's kitchen and adjoining breakfast room (except for a custom-built hutch) and set about to create a new kitchen made to look as if it was a mixture of original pieces from when the mansion was built combined with elements added over the intervening years. The classic white cabinetry with 54" uppers and stainless worktops, quarter-sawn oak built-ins and a massive island "table" with a huge slab of schist stone countertop all add to the functional and timeless feel. We chose a blended quarry tile which provides a rich, warm base in the sun-drenched room. The existing hutch was the perfect place to house the owner's extensive cookbook collection. We stained it a soft blue-gray which along with the red of the floor, is repeated in the hand-painted Winchester tile backsplash.

This high-gloss lacquered Störmer, German kitchen, was designed using a horizontal handle-less aluminum gola profile for door and drawer openings. The main finished used in this kitchen is a white high gloss lacquer with matching laser edges, paired with a thermo-pine structured HPL laminate. Units consisted of: Blum Legrabox deep pan drawers, pan drawers with inner drawers, corner lemans, bi-fold wall units, open shelves, tall unit with inner pan drawers, tall glass unit with glass shelves, custom coffee niche with pull-out shelf and built-in drawer, built-in oven tall unit and built-in LED lighting throughout. Island features deep pan drawers and an open niche for microwave and small accessories storage. In addition, a unique a L-shape built-in table designed using live-edge solid walnut. The handle-less aluminum gola continues to wrap around the island to create continuous lines. Plinth LED lighting surrounds entire island.
