We were commissioned to transform a large run-down flat occupying the ground floor and basement of a grand house in Hampstead into a spectacular contemporary apartment. The property was originally built for a gentleman artist in the 1870s who installed various features including the gothic panelling and stained glass in the living room, acquired from a French church. Since its conversion into a boarding house soon after the First World War, and then flats in the 1960s, hardly any remedial work had been undertaken and the property was in a parlous state. A residential property designed for development and sale, this was a truly unique project that saw a dramatic transformation on site. The planning permission application for this unusual project pushed the realms of possibility in terms of excavation and re-building. The design featured naturally lit underground spaces and a range of stunning contemporary accommodation geared towards attracting an international buyer. Complex and fast moving, the project resulted in an exceptional luxury home and maximised profit for the developer.

A private client with plans to convert a cluster of agricultural buildings in South Devon and an unscheduled visit to our London showroom led to the fitting out and furnishing of the whole house. The project started in the kitchen where a combination of Artematica and Sine Tempore units from Valcucine were combined to create a very individual solution to the clients’ requirements. On to the main dining and morning room areas which feature tables and seating from Valcucine, Walter Knoll and Cassina… Grande Suite from Walter Knoll was selected for the main Lounge area with an open study area beyond. The storage system was manufactured by Lema and seating was supplied by Poltrona Frau and Driade. This is essentially a retirement home which can accommodate an enlarged family for high days and holidays. The accommodation would not be complete without a large social area for those rainy days featuring a bar area with seating by Cassina and a curved seating unit by Minotti to enjoy those feature length movies. This is a large house and there is lots more… Bedroom furniture by Lema, Novamobili and Zanotta and a second kitchen in the guest suite featuring the Demode kitchen from Valcucine.

Stunning white, grey and wood kitchen with an 'iron-glimmer' dining table. This stunning design radiates luxury and sleek living, handle-less design and integrated appliances.

We removed several walls on the ground floor of the property to create an open plan living space with breakfast bar. Herringbone wood flooring adds to the luxury along with these gorgeous ceramic wall tiles for the kitchen splashback. We changed the boiler and electrics, installed a sprinkler system for fire safety to comply with the council regulations. We also renovated the shower room and removed the mouldy ceiling.

This kitchen incorporates natural textures and raw materials through the use of slate, concrete and timber flooring - a contrast to the sleek and glossy units, which quickly bring the space up to date. With a flush extractor hood, stacked ovens and induction hob, this kitchen was designed with a focus on beauty and practicality. Particular attention was paid to giving the space a family friendly feel through incorporating more colour into the walls and detailing.
